Being a human in the 21st century often feels frustrating. We are clearly at the high point of our species, while at the same time life is incredibly hard! We are divided, unable to solve our problems while creating new ones, destroying our world in the process. In many ways the vibe is that we live in dark times. But as Terry Pratchett said, we are the storytelling ape, we think in narratives and live in a network of stories that make up our world. So without minimizing the darkness, we want to add a story that we find helpful for dealing with the world.

The self-proclaimed greatest nation on the planet still uses most of its resources on weapons of mass destruction one way or the other – all while its people people suffer be it medically or even starving 😂 that’s the so called free world, shining beacon on the hill 💀 (now imagine getting that to care about the neighbouring country (you know since it’s a literal commandment or something) never)
We just happen to be the current life show on Earth, the only way we use what we have built in the benefit of another is through some sort of existential crisis something that makes us realise it’s just us for a distance on this little blue rock but once again human mind sucks

The government was meant to be a UBI. Workforce was used to build infastructure with no profit. But private business want us to believe that the only solution is more commerce, more assets being used and evolved. Paid for by the easiest of labour. Cutting out the earth and it's needs.
Instead of a UBI the government just needs to make more earth positive jobs with no net gain.

Kurzgesagt always amazes me how they point out the problems, but never point out to the clear cause. They are this close to say "the problem is capitalism", yet they can't, since they are sponsored by wealthy billionaires…
It's ridiculous, low-key funny but also sad at the same time.

Hundreds of Millions starve while we waste a billion meals every day, the 1% owns more than the 95%, we contaminate and destroy the world while there plenty of ways we can stop it, we fight in wars and stockpile weapons just because of the wishes of failed men with insane power, all of this problems are not technological we have the knowledge and technology necessary to solve them this problems are structural and we meed to change our systems completely to eliminate these problems

But now we live in artificial environments that inhibit natural selection and accommodate less useful people who don't contribute much to the tribe/society and who don't think and plan their decisions carefully and are thus more likely to reproduce, meaning we have an ever rising majority of less useful people and ultimately a declining society. We need a certain criteria for people to meet before they can have kids.

Every issue just comes down to history. We’re still fighting conflicts that were started in the Bronze Age. Ancient grudges that people just can’t let go of, probably because we aren’t really that smart…. Accidents just happen if enough time and effort gets put into stuff, and the bigger our collective pool of information the more we can do. Makes it look like we’re getting smarter, but we aren’t.
The best way to describe the feeling of our epoch as society is to look on the description of Numernor at the time of its decay: "Under Sauron's influence the Númenóreans prospered but became more nefarious, the Men of Middle-earth were hunted and enslaved and brought back to their temples…" We are feeling the times are dark because we sense the impeding doom as all humans do as our moral principles cannot keep up with the technological advancements of our age and we feel lost in an everchanging and progressing world without being taught the proper means of rationalizing our societies characteristics. When total disconnection of the majority of the population occurs due to a sudden technological advancement or mass scale environmental catastrophe then people will stop obeying the norms of society, the order which the rulling class struggled so much to make the people form in their minds will crumble and will be every human for itself. Signs have already emerged: Voters trusting in the creatures supporting values which would deny voting rights to the voters, seeing our bioshere collapse before our very eyes and moving very slowly to avoid total collpase. The list of irrational acts as a society is the measure of which our doom is coming upon us. Trusting in reason and sensibility is the only way to take our fate into our own hands. This will not keep us from calamities. But it will keep us from despair on their face. The human race is the greatest force on this planet. Trusting in reason and proper sense keeps us united which in turn allow us to exercise this force.
