Mars has captivated humans since we first set eyes on it as a star-like object in the night sky. Early on, its reddish hue set the planet apart from its shimmering siblings, each compelling in its own way, but none other tracing a ruddy arc through Earth’s heavens.
Since the 1960s, humans have set out to discover what Mars can teach us about how planets grow and evolve, and whether it has ever hosted alien life.
So far, only uncrewed spacecraft have made the trip to the red planet, but that could soon change.
NASA is hoping to land the first humans on Mars by the 2030s.
SpaceX’s CEO Elon Musk also hopes for a self-sustaining city on Mars in 20 years.
But what would happen if China were to beat them to the punch?
Would we ever see Chinese astronauts walking on Mars?
What would happen to our world if China were to colonize Mars?
And what would happen if China colonized Mars before NASA and SpaceX and how does it affect you?
All this and more in today’s episode of Great SpaceX!

China’s goal is always plain: to become a “great space power,” as President Xi Jinping said.
China’s Mars rover, arriving on the heels of our own, has been an impressive success; China also has a probe on the far side of the moon — a first for any nation. Its space station is nearly complete, while the International Space Station, after more than two decades orbiting Earth, approaches obsolescence and NASA turns to private companies to build and run its successors.
Like the United States, China wants to be the first to colonize Mars.
And they have already begun to align their efforts.
China aims to send its first crewed mission to Mars in 2033, with regular follow-up flights to follow, under a long-term plan to build a permanently inhabited base on the Red Planet and extract its resources.
The ambitious plan, which will intensify a race with the United States to plant humans on Mars, was disclosed in detail for the first time after China landed a robotic rover on Mars in mid-May in its inaugural mission to the planet.
As the head of China’s main rocket maker, Wang Xiaojun, told a space exploration conference in Russia, Crewed launches to Mars are planned for 2033, 2035, 2037, 2041 and beyond.
Before the crewed missions begin, China will send robots to Mars to study possible sites for the base and to build systems to extract resources there.
For human inhabitation on Mars, crews would have to be able to use the planet’s resources, such as extracting any water beneath its surface, generating oxygen on-site and producing electricity.
China must also develop technology to fly astronauts back to Earth.
An uncrewed round-trip mission to acquire soil samples from the planet is expected by the end of 2030.

  1. NASA is a government agency, let me repeat that nasa is a incompetent woke Biden government agency that now puts diversity and inclusive policies before actual engineering.EVERY THING the Biden government touches turns to crap,I mean Everything .

  2. FJB LGB 🖕he is paying off china 🇨🇳 blackmale is he’ll for everyone else and we are loosing…🤷‍♂️

Joe Biden has been selling out our country for years and our secrets are no longer ours as they now belong to our enemies…

The proof is in the writing on the modules which is all in English obviously America has had a foothold in this advancement, what are they think we are stupid..?!

  3. You know your running out ideas for content when you have what if clickbait videos. Chinese have a hard of enough time colonizing China maybe the mars or moon base will be where the Communist party lives, so they don't have to deal with the populace.

  4. Space X can get there quickly enough, but not if the FAA is hobbling them. I guess the question is, who is Biden loyal too? Is this why the SLS is moving so slow to give the Chinese a chance?

  5. "Copy SpaceX" ?!? What nonsense is that ?!? Superficial imitations of SpaceX rockets is seen on Powerpoint presentations and promotional videos of semi-private startups. Chinese government agencies use launchers with distant pedigree from ICBMs (just like Atlas, Delta or Soyuz have ICBMs on their family tree). they mostly still rely on hypergolic fuels, sometimes solid or hydralox. For example, Long March 2D, which rivals reliability of Falcon9, uses N2O4 and UDMH in a gas generator cycle, very old school – room temperature storable propellant is crucial for quick reaction missiles.
Long March 5B that launches space station modules has the two core stages fueled by hydralox (like Saturn V), but with keralox boosters (like Soyuz).

Nothing will "happen" if Chinese crews reach Mars first, except for increased NASA budget. This new space race is a Good Thing (TM).

BTW, I am a bit tired of these "Game over" and similar clickbaits. Once it is about imminent economic crash of China and with it its space program, another about its accelerating space program and "dangerous ambitions". How about just sharing news?

  6. I find it a little odd that SpaceX hasn't tried to use Falcon9 Heavy to send something over to Mars, or just in an effort for making a legitimate space station as a 1/2 way point like the JWST is at the Lagrange Point 2 which I would think would help them be in a stronger position & maybe argue for more funding? I don't know just my thoughts. I tweeted the other day about SpaceX not sending robots yet and posing the question of if and when the company will do so as part of identifying how they will deal with their MOXIE version for making O2.

  7. Until someone gets to Mars and gets some so called water that can be run through onboard filters to drinkable levels and then split it to make fuel …. I'll keep considering Mars a place for Marvin not humans !

  8. "Mars" isn't just a speck on a map. It's a planet. It should be large enough to accommodate two Earth nations in different areas. It's not like there's gonna be a war if or when China would set foot on Mars first. On Earth China has borders with other countries and no war has developed, despite the USA doing everything they can to start one. The nation to keep an eye on regarding wrongdoings and events that can lead to war is the USA. They're the ones who are the warmongers. SpaceX should declare itself an independant nation before going to Mars, to stay on the safe side.

  10. China is all talk. All they do is copy. They can’t beat the USA and our capitalist all powerful billionaires. Why does this channel keep acting like a Chinese propaganda source!!?? China is financially broke and their downfall is just beginning.

  11. Dude, you can knock China but this would have been totally different if the US and everyone cut them off from space and the international space station. Now with the joke that is Artemis and NASA people better take them seriously or you're going to sit here crying about how they beat everyone. This is a serious problem and NASA is a joke with our Space X the US would be in serious trouble.

  12. Colonizing Mars is a bottomless hole for government or corporate budgets, with little to no idea how to even recuperate the investment. So if China is going to attempt that – especially with their substantially inferior technology – it will be a massive drag on all their other national efforts. Therefore it's more likely they'll do what they've always done: Fake progress, achieve some bling bling projects, try to coax the other powers into wasting their money on such things.

  13. There are no known resources on Mars that are economically worth bringing back to earth. Between shipping the mining equipment to Mars and the resources back, there's no profit in mining most of what we think of as "resources". Colonizing Mars will first be an entirely scientific benefit, not of strategic or economic importance (except negative because it takes so much dough).

  14. here is the problem, SpaceX does NOT have the resources China has. NASA does not help SpaceX as they should, and it is inevitable that Chine will win the race. unless, NASA makes a bold attempt to support SpaceX in a better way. as usual, we're fighting with each other in the US, for money. NASA should be smart enough to see strategic, political issues they have. In the meantime, I think SpaceX also do something about the political games going on in NASA. but Biden seems to have no interest in the subject, he even hates Elon Musk to be honest, the message was clearly exposed when Biden administration did NOT invite Tesla to the EV Summit. so, as one my friends told me years ago, it would be a good idea that we should start teaching Chinese in our public schools after all…

  15. There are going to be alot of dead Chinese between here and there. It just feels like they are racing into this without the consideration of the human degradation of space existence.
