The doom phase thing is a really interesting idea. Game seems super cool
Nice summary of the Hobgoblin world. Now I need to read the fluff in the back of the book. It is a fun game. I cut some unit trays and hot glued a bunch of random minis down. A 3,000 point army of undead and a 3,000 point army. Of living foes. Played with my 11 year old son. His first war game and he loved it. (Probably because he beat me….. :😢). Now I’m digging through my. Shelf of shame to break the living army. Into several distinct armies: dwarves (now I get to use the pig calvary), saurians, goblins/orcs, humans, elves….). Really fun because it moves quick.
Some of the art is very reminiscent of Mike Mignola's Hellboy.
Great video, I've got a few smaller games under my belt and its a super fun game! The customizing units with keywords almost gives it a deck construction feel.
=-( O
Cool game
So, did somebody make the Mörk Borg connection?
This is Doom Metal Fantasy mass battle game
Seems a bit too serious for a game called hobgoblin
Your game board looks so living, you even have friend-shaped furry impassable terrain!
Cool, where are the robot minis from?
I use my squads of mushroom boys that explode like banelings as a chariot
I really like the cave-world idea of Rotvalden but all the races they mention being the Warhammer Races is a bit disappointing to me, especially because I love everything else.
Though in a game like this making a different race your army is the easiest thing in the world. Just seems like the creator was fully expecting people to use old Warhammer Fantasy armies.
I like how the setting is simultaneously a sandbox meant to field any type of army in, but also very unique and just its own thing. That’s a sign of really good setting building.
Sounds like a soccer mom who hovered to close to her son's game of Warhammer, got worked up that he got tabled, then made a tabletop game that wasn't "problematic."
I'd like to have some idea of how they mechanics work.. because that's what makes a game a game…
Wonderful video and great recommendations for an indie game
