  1. It's still a nice tool in the toolkit, along with spells and other damage sources. I'm still trying to find a good set of skills, weapons and abilities to build around in 1.03.
I'm thinking Arcane, with some Fire and Bleed in the mix, plus the Stomp as a utility but I haven't settled on specifics.

  2. Why do devs do this? They really push hard on the idea that the game is all about understanding combat and developing strategic gameplay. And they keep doing that right up untill you actually do it. Then it becomes clear that all they really mean is memorizing the fight.

  3. Nerfs in mostly single player games annoy me. I know there's a PvP, but it just seems like the magic of a community to figure things out, even if OP, and then as the player to try them out and get the joy of the discovery is taken away. Even in PvP, at least, as they continue to add content, you kind of get waves of meta, where you go from one thing being OP to another. But in single player games, its often like if you get to play it after they've patched everything, you feel like you've missed out.

  4. Why is FromSoft still buffing magic spells even more and nerfing the alternative playstyles, when magic is already significantly better compared to other combat styles.

  5. I like that Fromsoft is actually having balls. You can't just buff everything else. The fact it still deals decent damage shows the nerf was warranted. Maybe it could've been -30% instead. But at any rate it's good that they try to balance stuff.

  6. It is just stupid to go from 100 to 0 and not just on Hoarfrost Stomp, but…
Im just happy i've finished the the game BEFORE the patch so i dont need to mess with this again ^^
They WILL destroy EVERY Build that is "fun" with the reason "game difficulty or player skill" but they actually don't care about important things WHY the game is "difficult"…
Like: FPS Drops, broken Camera or Broken "Target Lock" (actually it's no LOCK) on PC-Controls -> THAT "bug" makes the game "hard" 😛

  7. I've never used this skill, I'm an ultragreatsword guy but … looking a little here and there, I think they did well (maybe still a little too strong …), this thing ruined the game as it is intended.

If a boss is too difficult or if you want to play "easymode" there are ashes and you can summon other players, you don't need a broken brainless weapoart.

  8. Ok, I’ve had this ash of war since my first couple days playing and had NO IDEA how boss it was until this patch… after the nerf. I’m so bummed. I am okaying dial wield whips with frost on both but never had hoarfrost in my dominant hand and was using bloodhounds step. So sad!

  9. I have a double holslow whips with frost and hoarfrost stomp. For some reason it does a bit more dmg just changing it to frost. I have low magic stats so idk but it's definitely not bad, just not op now.

  10. The apostle on the top doesn't have a life bar because at that point in the game he's not considered a boss. Notice how the music doesn't change, either. Same with the gargoyle on the stairs. Sometimes the game gives you a monster you fought as a boss previously, and reintroduces it as a regular enemy. Welcome to Dark Souls.

  11. They definitely cut a huge chunk of what made it fun to use. Now it’s going to become a useless ash of war like most of them anyway. I get they needed to fix it but what they should’ve done was just decrease the damage a bit. Why even add all these fun power ups to nerf them without even reworking on all the rest many players seem to ignore most. Would’ve been more efficient in my eyes but oh well.

  12. What would you recommend to switch to? Like my character is heavily STR and INT hoarfrost was pretty useful and the cold dmg on my weapon was great. Any other build you can recommend switching to with that kind of stat?
Maybe i'll respect to faith that didn't get nerfed.

  13. The cast time is related on animation lock I think, not how the 2nd thick goes off. I used to be able to spam 4 stomps in 2-3 seconds, recast it fast, now thats not possible anymore. They madenit feel bad, but the dmg nerf was needed, still the other nerfs not, stamina and cast speed just made it feel bad. A 50-60% dmg nerf was all it needed and nothing else. Sad day. Well at least now im interested to try new stuff, its not that bad.

Ill still keep it around for big groups of trash mobs, and honestly trash in general.

  14. Just don't understand why it should matter to the developer's and other's who play the game, when this game is 99% single player… That's like Bethesda nerfing a spell in their single player game (Skyrim). Honestly, stupid in my opinion…

The damage I'm doing to enemies in single player or anyone who is doing it themselves on their end, it isn't affecting others directly, so why should the developers and some cry babies be upset and angry?

  15. So what I gather from this video is.. a 50% reduction in damage remains a 50% reduction in damage no matter how many buffs/increases you apply. Funny how math works…
