  1. I love both at this point tbh, dl2 was rough at release and frankly I thought the movement and combat felt awful

Now that they've been reworked however it's some of the weightiest, most enjoyable gameplay I know of.

The combat is extremely fun (if you turn most of your HUD off it's even better imo) and the physical parkour is just great, they compliment each other.

I think in terms of gameplay as of now the sequel is far superior.

The same can't be said for the writing imo though, DL1 story wasn't some profound unpredictable masterpiece or anything but as far as zombie stories go it was incredibly solid and enjoyable, not to mention crane was just a great protagonist with some seriously underappreciated voice acting.

DL2 Story on the other hand to me feels like the inebriated ramblings of a college student who thinks they're smarter than they really are.

Every quest and sidequest tries to be some weird moral dilemma or message about returning to nature maaan

Essentially I think it takes itself too seriously, while the first game had serious moments but mostly kept things relatively lax and goofy at times.

In fact the new T&F quest they added felt like a return to form in terms of writing style because it embraced the weird side of DL like the first game and personally I enjoyed that quest more than literally any base game quest.

It was dumb and cheesy and it knew it, which was fitting for the return of characters from the first game and I think that made it great.

But overall I love them both, I just hope they continue embracing the goofy/serious combo going forward instead of trying unsuccessfully to be profound and deep.

And also TECHLAND REMOVE THAT AWFUL PLAYER FOV LOCK YOU ADDED IN THE LAST UPDATE IT IS ACTUALLY THE WORST.

  2. The second game is a dumpster fire. It’s full of woke propaganda and the story is god awful. Normally I wouldn’t care cause the first game was nothing special in the story department but it was advertised as an RPG but it’s really not. None of the choices matter and they try to force inject simp garbage in there, as seen in the latest update with “delta” and the cringe insta relationship nonsense. It’s all incoherent and none of it makes any sense. Then there’s the fact that in 2 years they’ve only managed to repair surface level mechanics while ignoring all the major problems like the broken story, the copy pasted cityscape that all looks the same, the lack of any real content outside of playing the broken story, the fact the only thing they’ve managed to create as “new content” in two years is stupid challenges and grind fest garbage. Then they blatantly lie about it too, like their implementation of firearms saying it’s “organic” as possible by hiding them behind a grind wall and Aiden being the only one who gets them 😂..

  3. i tried going back to 2 after playing through it completely on release and it really doesnt feel any different, same awful story and unlikeable characters, nonstop infected from doing nothing where it was more of a stop being so loud thing in 1, i just kept thinking about going back to 1 ever time id start it up again, oh and the guns really arent that spectacular, they feel about as shitty as they do in 1.
oh yeah also forgot about how they did the rpg-lite shit that ubisoft loves doing in their games, terrible armor sets and weapon bonuses, awful parts grind for upgrading stuff, got rid of so many blueprints and switched to that shitty modular system that dead island 2 also did, and in both games the system was boring. ruined the fun of exploring the map and finding cool blueprints, all you get in this is garbage

  4. I don’t think so, they changed the button mapping . They changed the skills you unlock . They removed infinite stamina for the agility skill tree . And it’s also way more cartoonish in terms of graphics , you swing your weapons slower . The graphics were the funniest to me. The zombies look nearly hand drawn but Dying Light 1 had more realistic graphics

  5. Also the looter shooter rpg replay value style games are over used. Their formula for dying light one was much better . With merchants selling better weapons the further you got into the game. In this game you can hit the zombies 100 times and they won’t go down.

  6. something I also want them to do is make the physics and ai like the original. for me the physics and ai in the 2nd is well kinda weird. cause in the 2nd you see them change animation to animation and it’s not immersive at all. all I’m saying is just make the ai and physics like the first so I don’t need to swap to dying light 2 to parkour and dying light to play combat.
