Disneyland’s Splash Mountain is one of my favorite attractions of ALL TIME. Today we are going to deep dive into its replacement, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Is this new version a worthy successor? What does it do better than Splash Mountain? What makes it fall short?
Huge thank you to LMG Vids for POV footage used in this video! Additional footage from Freshbaked.
Sorry for random changes in my voice through the middle of the video, my new microphone cut out on me through the recording process, so I had to re-record. This is the longest video in the history of this channel, so thank you so much for watching! I apologize for the two month hiatus, I am working to get as much content out in the month of December as possible 🙂

Stoked for a new video! Great content as always dude, thank you!
it’s better than the florida one, but not better than splash 😂
been looking forward to this video!!!! and blessing us with 48 minutes 🥹 thank you themeparknerd 🙏🙏🙏
Bayou Country does sound a bit tacked on especially since its only a small part of the land, like Critter country was never the most cohesively themed area, but its name was generic enough to still fit, Bayou Country on the other hand doesn't have that benefit.
Not a good sign if the biggest improvement from Florida is thst the ride is smaller and therefore has less deadspace between the show scenes lmao. I get these animatronics were really expensive, but the florida version could have added something to make the bayou more lively, right?
Also maybe I'm stupid but whats so special about the salt mine thing historically?
Your videos are awesome! As a Disney fan, especially a Disney ride fan, I think you deserve way more views. I’ve only ridden the WDW version of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (or ‘Former Splash’ as I like to call it). It was fun the first time, but the second time it just felt okay, and honestly, I’m not in a rush to ride it again. It will never be as great as Splash Mountain, which I always wanted to ride, miss deeply, and will always feel hurt that it’s gone forever (except in Tokyo for now). Keep up the great work! 💦⛰️
I got an ad for this ride before the video started lmao
It’s definitely better than the Florida one but still not as good as splash
Disney could’ve gotten it done by September but they wanted to work out the technical problems so it would be better than floridas another level which barely worked
"Splash Bayou" would have also worked a lot better than the name they gave it
All the figures looks like they have plastic skin
Usually Disney adds a silicone skin and masks but didn’t and it’s shows
The whole ride looks cheap and Disney should know by now taking shortcuts is not a good thing
They should of planned it well and had a better story
RIP ones of disneys classic and best thrill ride splash mountain
You will be missed
closing the ride early every day is so annoying lmao. but I think it’s because all the animatronics keep breaking
One thing I felt when I rode it in California is the complete lack of classic Disney charm. That was one of my favorite feelings I got from Splash Mountain and Tiana’s feels like a constant gimmick to sell merchandise (also the OG music of Splash really helped with that feeling, with all the classic Disney orchestral music).
at least the animatronics are better
You deserve a much bigger viewership. Soon as I saw this I clicked. You're whitelisted on my ad block, keep it up!
Just rode it yesterday, far better than Disneyland's Splash Mountain ever was. People need to stop making videos like this for likes. Splash Mountain closed 20 months ago. It's time to move on
Ive been to disneland countless times, and have honestly gotten bored with just about everything, except i still like the trian and the dark rides and of course splash mountain. It really was the perfect ride. The build up from the moment you hear the owl mysteriously hooting going the seond lift hill, to the progressively darker theming during the ride, till the big drop and of course the perfect ending with the perfect music. The ride hit so many feelings and emotions, you can tell alot of thought was put into this ride by very talented Imagineers disney used to have.
It was a good ride with current animatronics and effects…but I still think Splash is way too iconic to be replaced. They were better off building another ride for Tiana somewhere else.
Splash mountain is still in Japan 😅
Is it just me, or does the story for this ride reminds me of that one mission in Super Mario Odyssey where you have to find Mayor Pauline's band members.
The wooden structure at 29:02 is there so there is less light leak in the first dark ride sequence. So it helps that transition to darkness without having a door or something
Splash is just miles better- I've done Splash 100+ times and Tiana's about 20 times. Splash was so reridable and you got different snippets of music each time, but Tiana's is already getting boring. I don't want to hear anyone saying the animatronics are better when they aren't working half of the time. At least Splashes were consistent! Great video though, very in depth and I agree!!
The jarring transition at 39:15 between what we have now and what they destroyed is so disheartening. Truly a failure by Disney's part. Tiana's will attract a lot of new people to do it once, realize there's no villain/story and not ride again. Splash was the ideal ride for lapping. Can't say the same about this one.
I think the reason they danced around the whole Salt mine thing is because slaves used to work in real salt mines and guessing with how they gaslit people into thinking Splash Mountain was controversial, my guess is they wanted to future proof Tiana by not putting too much attention into it.
Also i believe Splash's music is 100% better nostalgia aside, all the music weves into the story (even more so than Tiana's), and there's more variaty in the mood, and Tiana's does not have an answer to Burrow's Lament. So Splash wins there.
If i were to give the DL version any positives, it would be that they made it an easy conversion back to Splash Mountain lmao
Too wet, splash was one of my favorite rides and I never rode it because I'm not trying to get wet and be damp/rashy all day… THEN they balanced the weight of the boats and now every seat gets soaked… Probably won't ride Tiana either 🙁
It doesn’t suck. It’s just not as good as Splash Mountain. But, I’d expect more AA characters added in the coming years.
Im looking up salt mines and it doesnt look at all like what a real one does. Its so far away it's not even fair to call it "artistic". It's just lazy
Props for having the courage to condemn this awful reskin. You have channels like Poseidon entertainment with no integrity. He makes his entire persona out of being critical of the company and then he completely punks out and condemns people who defend Splash. As someone whose favorite ride is and has always been Splash Mountain also, you have my deepest respect, and have more than earned a subscriber.
Splash had so much that TBA fails to do, I really hate how they destroyed all the original america sings critters, they were all great and still are more advanced than the current critter animatronics that we have with TBA.
I also dislike how they destroyed alot of props and rockwork to force in the large frog animatronics for the laughing place, its so much emptier and darker than it used to be and its so disappointing.
I just dont like the ride overall with how much less there is on the ride and how they got rid of the america sings critters, they were disneyland characters that should have stayed.
I like Tiana’s
It's so funny that Tiana's bayou adventure is to be announced I mean it's the same acronym
So Winnie the Pooh and The Hundred Acre woods are apparently in Louisiana? Might come as a surprise to the English creator of those characters!
How many people like this ride
They ruined the Critter Country sign by sanding down the hand carved text that was part of the board and slapped down some cheap glued on text lettering.
jurassic world is better despite of how much of a L ip the trilogy is…..but thats just me,me thinks.
I’ve been pointing out that I don’t think the NAACP would have approved of them using a salt mine based on Avery Island to explain the elevation rise in an otherwise flat state like Louisiana…
27:04 Truth
This is just a fun log ride now. Sad that it was changed because of DEI and wanting to be PC, sad. Splash mountain was whimsical and took you to another place and time.
