Diesel is being phased out in Europe also (despite being popular earlier), America never encouraged Diesel. So are all these guys also fools, moving to Hybrids and Electrics? Would love to get everyone’s thoughts.

I still have Ciaz diesel with 1.3L multijet. I have done 1.1 lacs kms with a milage of 21km/L and 16-17km/L in city. The engine is amazing and running without any issues till now.
My Toyota Crysta 2.8 litre is an absolute beast that produces amazing power on the tap and that’s amazingly gratifying especially on the highway. As Hormaz said it may not be fast but the feel of the torque delivery is very gratifying. One of the reason for me retain this model, it’s an absolute gem. Thank you for this podcast, it was truly enlightening. Love watching the podcast, pls keep them coming. Kudos!

If you travel 100 Kms per day (Up and Down) or more than 100 Kms per day then you can choose Diesel car.
In 2024 here I am planning to buy Bolero B4 (after selling my bolero 2015 model) and planning to run it for 15-18 years 😀

After watching this, Planning to take my seltos diesel manual for a weekly DPF regen on the road.
I will mever buy a Diesel because of the DPF issue that we have encountered with a vehicle in our family, i cant be bothered to go on a weekly run just to burn the DPF suit, definitely not worth all the headaches!

Mr. Hormazd literally spills the beans regarding govt policies in terms of age of vehicles. Whatever happens in Delhi NCR gets imposed on the whole country. I had to sell my 15 year old petrol i10 (ran 40000) as it had completed the so-called age. My vehicle was perfectly fine. It must be judged by the emission and not by age.
If the govt is really keen to minimise Diesel then it should definitely promote Hybrids and cut GST on Hybrids (on par with EVs) as most of the buyers would prefer buying Hybrids over EVs due to range anxiety and lack of proper EV infrastructure all over India. It would also push OEMs to make more and bring more strong Hybrids in India and it will bring the price low.
I personally like Deisel over Petrol.. It's punchy and responds to inputs which petrol doesn't or can't have
Dear Hormazd, I sincerely thank you for calling out the government's ban on cars older than 10/15 years in the NCR as stupid and unintelligent. I agree with you entirely on how it is a fundamentally stupid law, that does nothing to solve the problem that it sets out to. In fact, the production of new cars (as opposed to keeping old ones running) causes more pollution, and the people in charge must either be incompetent or idiots or corrupt to have signed off on this. The move was ignorant, draconian, unintelligent, irresponsible, misleading, and absolutely disgusting. For the sake of the environment, the people, the economy, good lifestyles, common sense, and just good manners, this idiocy needs to end NOW. Again, I thank you for speaking on the topic.

New emission norms will eventually kill diesel engine.for example DPF issue.
Dont think we need Diesels for passenger cars. Maybe some big heavy SUVs. Rest can manage with petrol and hybrids – when we need more efficiency. God i hate the smell of diesel NOx emissions.
Even though they missed the Diesel bus, they can still catch up on the hybrid bus. And look into that as a bridge to EVs. People who use diesel only for efficiency will see much better numbers

If one can afford it a Heavy Diesel Car and a Compact EV makes the most sense, unless a good Hybrid SUV comes to the market or even better – an affordable Plug in hybrid, which India desperately needs.
