With the release of their new book “Halls of the Ancients” releasing recently, Josh and Coty take a look inside and go over how the Ironhead Squat Prospectors work in Necromunda.

I was thinking about doing Squats in Nercomunda, glad this video came out!
You guys should consider doing a necromunda campaign series.
Been watching all your other deep dives but this is the one I've been waiting for. Had a Squat gang I got gifted sat about for a while but just got the new book, upgrades, bikes, exo-kyn and a cheeky 3D printed Claim Jumper and Skalvian Explorator.
Hail all
Who do you think will play better? Ironhead Squats or Venator Squats?
Hey! It's Coty and Not-Coty. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
With the action to buff the search for rare items, the exo-champ can do this as a bonus post battle action and then help look for items.
I am watching this and all the time saying to myself. Omg, they are smaller, tougher, a bit more stupid and slow Orlocks…
Like, look:
Champion that is leaning more towards a melee and his best pick is cheaper combat shotgun? – Arms master.
Regular cheap champion with 4+ WS that want rapid fire weapons? – Road sergeant.
Almost the same cost leader with 3W? – Is your Orlock leader!
They are like more "fresh" way to play Orlocks. A lot of dakka, credit generation, some cheat shenanigans with dices.
I hope they wrote extract credits well, because in wasteland campaign that should break the game with that credit income difference otherwise 😅
26:49 You could use this on a territory that you are about to lose to a rival gang. The defubb doesn't seem to stop working because the territory changes hands.
As i understand it they had a 10k subs flat cap for getting prereleases and you have to apply once you hit it. They wont reach out to you, you apply when you have 10k idk if the limit has risen since other content creators talked about this- Perhaps you can reach out to one of the people you see getting prereleases and talk to them about it.
I see all squat releases as vertically challenged new genestealer cult members.
Is this a good time to talk to you about the four armed emperor and what the starchildren can do for you?
Anyone else think the audio on this sounds much worse than usual?
The Claim Jumper seems to have a power pick in his booklet, but a power maul in the book.
The ability to buy prisoners is useful if there are Outlaw gangs in the campaign and your gang is law-abiding, or vice versa. Because the rules prohibit trading between law-abiding and outlaw. In such a situation, the only chance to recover the ganger is to free him, which is not always possible. This ability circumvents this prohibition.
Really enjoy the video lads. Only point I'd debate you both on is the Claim Jumper for 60 credits, he is pure value and auto-include IMO. If you were to part him out, using a Drill Master as base, he'd cost roughly 305 credits. That's without the Techmite which is worth 50 credit by itself. I know you can't spend Exp on him but paying 60 credits for around 355 credits worth of value is just insane. Plus, when your opponent hears what the Claim Jumper has, and can do, it pulls attention away from your actually gang that you have more of an investment in. Then when he gets a lasting injury, just 60 credits to get another one.
My home brew-wild snake is in their equipment list.
Chemical bonds never break- when calculating the drawbacks for inebriation markers, this fighter subtracts 1 from the final result. This only applies to the negative side effects.
I’m open to suggestions.
I'd like to see you guys doing Necromunda battle reports once in a while. You have really engaging presentation skills and a good vibe generally.
Remember agents that if you give your squats plasma weapons from the trade post combined with the Dependable like Kin skill, then you ignore the unstable traits. If you also either get a Heretek or capture a archeotech Device Territory from them, you can add more traits with no drawbacks…
Would you consider doing some 1k cred list concepts, and 400 cred vehicle options?
Also, the ancestry that lets you swap your skills – could get that, buy random-rolled skills for cheap xp costs, then use the ancestry to swap them to skills you actually want?
Nice overview as usual 🙂
My favorite 'Ancestry is Tapferkeit, usually giving the 'Gunsmithing' action to my shooty characters and the 'Infiltrate' action to Exo Master(s) (since they each can do 2x Actions = 2D3 infiltrating fighters per Exo master).
Personally for my Charter master I like going Gunfighter with 2x Ironhead Bolt pistols + 2x Bolt spitters (meaning 4 separate Rapid fire attacks within 10'' that can be split between 2 primary targets) and after upgrading BS to 2+, spend any XPs gained on randomly rolling Shooting skills (rolling 4 separate attacks per shooting action = decent chance to roll 6s to hit and trigger some of the Shooting skills and Shock trait, in case you control the Archeotech device Dominion territory, but in that case you also need to spend 12 XPs on Dependable like kin to avoid Unstable on 4 guns). Also he'll be Master crafting all his guns for free troughout the campaign and if I get excessively lucky with my campaign income I might arm the Charter master (alternative Weapon Loadout) with 2x Inferno pistols + 2x Stone burners by the end of the campaign, meaning 4x Melta pistols for a whopping 480 creds (I am fully aware that is a disgustingly inefficient investment of credits and is more of a Meme-build).
As for the melee Exo Master I usually start with 2x Rock saws + 2x Circular saws + Bull charge, hoping to eventually upgrade to 2x Power fists + 2x Gem extractors, if I get the credits for it.
Keep up the good work and cheers! 🙂
Yeaaaaah! Rock and Stone!
Small correction – RAW you can’t put dum dum on Ironhead stubguns – still great early game weapon though. (As you can’t put special ammo on enforcer shotguns)
I think they're one of the more challenging gangs to play in a campaign. They have problems to fix that don't have cheap/obvious solutions, so it's good they have the options for income acceleration.
If you choose the Splinter clan, you have to paint your 4 Exo-kyn with green armor and red, blue, orange & purple helmets. 😂
Well seem Van Saar has been made irrelevant in the game as shooty gang.
