Iraq Abandons US Dollar: De-dollarisation Wave Gathers Steam in West Asia |Vantage with Palki Sharma
In a bold move, Iraq has prohibited transactions in US dollars. This surprise announcement last week was an effort to stabilise the Iraqi Dinar. But increasingly, the US dollar’s dominance is being challenged in West Asia.
Despite Pakistan’s call to boycott the Kashmir G20 meeting, the 3-day event welcomed more than 60 foreign delegates. Security forces also foiled a 26/11-style attack on Gulmarg.
At the Forum of India Pacific Island Cooperation, Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea James Marape made an urgent call. Addressing India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he sought India’s advocacy at global platforms like the G7 and G20. Marape said Pacific nations are caught in the crossfire of a ‘global powerplay’ and wish to unite behind India.
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised to do “everything possible” to end the Russia Ukraine war. He said this in his first in-person talks with Ukraine’s Zelensky since the war broke out.

As long as there is only one currency to pay for transacts, the International trade will be smooth. If the American dollar is not used in international trade, some other currency should take its place such as the Chinese or the India's. Does the Chinese or the India's currency qualify? Or, will the world trust them?

Here is something people should know. If US can print pieces of paper called Dollar and use them to buy precious goods such as gold and oil from other countries, why can't other countries also print their money and buy goods from US? The Western countries just print money such as Dollar, Pound and Euro to exploit other countries by exchanging their money with other countries' precious commodities.
