Oh my goodness, thank you so much!! I've thought about this movie for years, having last seen it as a young boy over thirty years ago (scared me silly at the time too), and I wasn't quite sure I hadn't dreamed it – that is up until now! I even tried looking this movie up a few years back, but for some reason I was under the impression the movie was called "The Potato People" or something (at least that's the title I recall), so my results were disappointing to say the least. Here it is at last! My long lost Potato People!

Well it was all a horrible dream, or was it!?!? I wonder if David Lynch was influenced by this? When the dad is first infected the whole scene reminded me of Dougie on Twin Peaks the Return, coffee and all!!! Awesome 80s chiller!

This one's good and the original is really good I think they did a good job on redoing it sometimes remakes are horrible I'm not really sure what's going on in Hollywood right now with a hole remake thing are there no more good writers anymore I mean what's going on there's no good stories there's no good movies that's just remakes or parodies of something that has already been created I just don't know why there are no more good storytellers or they all gone and I know I'm going to get a lot of hell on the comments that I've just made but it's true

Of course…the thing either lands on the other side of the hill….or in the field of a creepy old guy, with a dog….and a shotgun.

I recall seeing the 1953 version of this movie as a child on TV around 1960 or so, and no movie before or since scared me as much, lol! Interesting footnote, the child star of the 1953 version, Jimmy Hunt, played the police chief in this 1986 remake. Fun stuff, thanks for posting this!
