Nibiru is a sci-fi TTRPG written by Araukana Media, set within a massive space station that’s home to millions that do not know about the anything beyond, you play as Vagabonds, vagrant souls who wake up in the station without memories of their past, piecing back their story as you travel through the skyless world.

This has a very, very "BLAME!" vibe to it-trapped inside of a megastructure that nobody remembers any other life, then people that DO remember start showing up…
Love that you're covering this, as a fan of the game I wonder are you doing it now because of the new sourcebook coming out?
This is a cool game and setting. Just don't special summon five times in one turn!
Hell yeah! I'm loving the fact that this kind of ambience and narrative is becoming more present in the tabletop RPG community. I've been very obsessed with works from H.R. Giger since I decided to revisit the Alien franchise and found out about Scorn, and as someone that finded out about Tales from the Loop, I'm very happy to see other new RPGs go for these introspective, "meaning of life" type of narrative. Something like Wraith: the Oblivion but not necessarily angst and edgy.
Honestly, I think I'm more interested in Nibiru as a setting than as a system. Nothing about the game itself particularly grabs me, but the giant world-station is fascinating, and the art design looks gorgeous.
My first thought upon seeing the title of the RPG my first thought was "What, if your GM special summons 5 monsters you get to deck them in the nose?" but the concept is a whole lot cooler than my lame yu-gi-oh reference. The idea of using memories as power, and as a way to explore the world and your character at the same time is pretty pog. I like, the setting is cool in of itself and being mostly narrative makes for some good ol RP time with friends while asking existential questions that'd send us into a spiral of paranoia and anxiety if we asked them alone at 3am in the morning, rather than through a character in a fictional world with your buddies. 🙂
Seriously, though. Stop showing me cool RPGs, my wallet hides from me everytime you do.
Wouldn't playing as a Dreadland kind of rob your backstory of some intrigue because you know your memories are false?
this is EXTREMELY Blame-y, I love it. you're so good at showing us interesting games.
the Eva clips have me wondering, have you looked at Adeptus Evangelion (any version)?
This seems like it would work well as a "Play by Post" game. I love creating stories, backstories, and characters, but having to sit around and wait while people ponder their story would be a pain. But PbP would solve most of those issues, and give people the time they need to makes some really killer stuff. It would basically turn into a co-operative novel-writing experiment.
thanks for showing me another cool indie game!
And, if your opponent special summons five monsters, you can get rid of all of them
11:10 I was gonna mention this manga, as the story of this game very much put me in mind of this story. One of my favorite manga of all time (I have the first two volumes on my bookshelf right in front of me)
Then again…Nibiru is also a yugioh card xD. It's a big asteroid that you can summon on your opponent. The name does have to do with astronomy. It apparently comes from how the Babylonians marked the Equinox.
What's up with all those TTRPG games with setting and people no normal human can relate to?
