It is not feasible to install platform doors at LRT stations because of space constraints. Senior Minister of State for Transport Amy Khor was responding to questions regarding safety at LRT stations. The body of a 33-year-old woman was found on the tracks near the platform of Cove LRT station in Punggol last month. Dr Khor added that, over the past 10 years, there have been three cases of people falling on LRT tracks. Two died, including the most recent case, while a third person sustained injuries.

If you already installed the platform guards partially, might as well do the same for the doors. Do you build fences to have a hole around the fence? If it is space issues, then what preventive measures are in place to prevent similar accidents. Or can you solve the space issues head on? Sorry to say, I smell bs. 😅
How is it not feasible? You can comeup with many designs and thats sg it should be easy boasting lots of talent including ft and always have hefty budget being paid by people. You say its an advanced city but having difficulty on safety doors? If cannot design might aswell buy finished product or order from China and just install.

You can engineer a sliding door and control the signalling wirelessly. Very little space is needed.

install stainless steel grills with opening near to where the doors would be, like in New Delhi. It takes less than half the area and the openings will be easy to monitor.
I think it’s more of a cost issue than a space issue. There will surely be a way if there’s enough budget 😅
