Inside A REAL Final Fantasy 14 Cult: The Story of Dreadwyrm Academy

Xeno reacts to a tale from the duty finder, the story of Dreadwyrm Academy, an FC with cult like rules which was ruled with an iron fist. Xeno, with the help of chat, also finds an archived link of their website from the past, and using the Wayback Machine he manages to see who the Dreadwyrm Academy members were, what were they doing and the rules they had to follow.

  1. I think the 'quotes' kinda annoy me more than the psychotic cult mentality, it's like one person wrote them for everyone
This Nephy person sounds like they've never been near, associated with or been a part of a genuinely funny joke in their entire lives

  2. I had heard about this group back in ShadowBringers and had an alt over there that got in. They tried to say I wasn't ready to do savage despite out-dpsing Arc as a samurai and even several people on summoner. So I went and joined a static anyway. Cleared all the current content before they managed to. Came back. flexed my fancy gear. Then proceeded to lali-hop my way into a few ultimate clears as well. All the while taking a bunch of people who Arc and Neph said weren't ready and getting them through the content. with literally zero issues.

So if anyone is wondering why 30-40 people left during February? Well. I took them and gave them better homes.

Current leadership is solid though, No insanity to be seen. props to them for fixing the dumpster fire that it was.

Edit: for clarification. I was only in the FC because I was looking for company buffs while grinding up my alt. When I tried to recruit people in the FC to do practice, they put a hard stop to it. So I told them that regardless of them saying so. I'll have a group up in PF.

They then kicked me, but the damage was done and several people began to come right to my PF, and I started doing multiple runs every day for multiple groups. Mostly made from people from the cult. the amount of hypocrisy they showed was amazing. But I made a lot of good friends from those who split off.

  3. I think its ironic. I think, many become diks when subjected to savage statics. It tends to bring out the inner dik. after all, the real reason ine joins a static is to secure 7 other people to get you clears and gears.

but this guy alreafy sounds like a dik without savage content influence.

  4. Strummer, would you somehow be able to interview one of the members of the FC now? Seems like some of them have good heads on their shoulders and could maybe give everyone an insight on how they are now. I guess that'll depend on whether they'd be willing, too.

  5. I guess I just have terrible luck because out of the 4 fc's I've gotten into 3 of them have been weird varying levels of this culty weirdness. Gaslighting, love bombing, insane levels of control or at least attempts at it, blatant and extreme favoritism to the point of ostracizing anyone who questioned the golden ones, hostility which would be denied and/or ignored by the leaders, the list goes on.

  6. There are several FCs on Aether that are similar. Dollhaus, 8-bit are two that come to mind. Leadership completely nuts, controlling. Dollhaus leader shouted at a person for using shout chat in an open map to ask people to hold a rare fate for them (I was there for that). 8-bit leader famous for harassment of guild members they didn't like, and being involved in breaking up an irl marriage for an rp relationship (I was around for that too). People are absolutely nuts sometimes.

  7. I've been playing MMORPG since 2004 I'd tell them to shove their permission up their ass. Oh no your going to kick me from FC plz do it then you have no power and we can all laugh at how batshit crazy these people are. Some of their points are actually correct but Raiding has different types casual/midcore and hardcore so even if it takes time to find a static that suits you it can be worth it in the end. It can be a long journey and if at the end you decide to Savage raiding was to much or not for you fine at least you tried.

Also FC only static can be amazing but also some of the worst experience due to increased drama potential. Controlling people with a god complex and any FC like them are fucking hilarious though.. it's not Raiding that is the issue it's people.

I will admit that people who raid can be toxic at times but that's because they need to find a way to detox/de-stress

  8. Having to read something written by a stupid person trying to sound smart is always exhausting, it only makes it worse if they're trying to sound wise and mysterious at the same time

  9. i literally could not finish this video cus of the rampant naracissm and self-importance. that guy probably wanted to be a cop and failed the academy for being too 'heavy-set'

  10. I use Esuna any time I can. You're paralyze? Esuna. You're hit with poison? Esuna. You're hit with Burn? Esuna. Hell anything that looks remotely like a status effect, I use Esuna to see if I can remove it from people in my party. Esuna hasn't moved from my rotation at all, even in the later content once I realized it actually worked.
