Some fields are setting record yields… but what about the quality?
Located in south central North Dakota, we grow variety crops (barley, rye, durum, wheat, oats, corn, soybeans, flaxeed) and run simmental/angus/saler mixed cattle herd. I like the idea of unloading on the go from the combine into a truck instead of unloading on the go from the combine into a cart.
There would be less grain augering without a cart which would result in less fines in the grain, less manpower required, less fuel used, less wear on machinery and higher profits.
There is more ground being compacted because of running back with the cart to the truck than there would be if the truck was running alongside the combine and unloading on the go into the truck.
Green chopped corn forage silage is heavy and it is loaded into semis while the harvester continues to cut and there is never a mention of compaction.
Potatoes, sugar beet and various vegetable crops are unloaded on the go from the harvesters directly into semis and no one worries about compaction.

Nice crop. Sure would like to get combining. Between rain and humidity we’ve only combined 1 day in the last two weeks. But it looks like we’ll get rolling for a couple days starting tomorrow.

That’s crazy you can just leave the corn stand if the bins are full. Awesome that the wheat is yielding. Couple event or global disputes and wheat will be back over $10.
Love that big combine and your fields go on forever. Nice to see a heavy harvest falling back on your header.
