‘Inexplicable stupidity’: Sky News host blasts Albanese for response to Ukraine request

Sky News host Andrew Bolt has blasted Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for his response to the Ukraine request for Taipan helicopters.

Ukraine is pleading with the Australian government to donate its fleet of retired Taipan helicopters instead of dismantling and burying them.

“I defy anyone to explain this – certainly the Prime Minister today couldn’t,” Mr Bolt said.

“Once again, no leadership, just pass the buck down the food chain.”

Mr Bolt was joined by Strategic Analysis Australia Director Peter Jennings to discuss the Taipan helicopters and Ukraine.

  1. Has Richard Marles as a defence minister created a defence purchase as of yet? and I don't mean accepted a purchase from a previous government.
This guy seems to cut previous purchases like the IFV and creates nothing, cuts this cuts that, what has he done for Australia's defence force so far? ………nothing but cuts!
I cannot believe he has left our country without battlefield transport helicopters, he should have kept the MRH-90 in service until replaced one for one by the UH-60L Blackhawks.
In the days of China threatening the west with South China Sea 9 lines and Taiwan with recent Chinese embargoes on our exports, this clown leaves the Australian defence force without a transport helicopter!
One cannot help to notice he did not offer the US any Naval assets for the Yemen problem, some allie Labor makes!
I wouldn't blame the US if they wanted to review our submarine deal and if we are true allies with this lot in power?…………………….Marles decisions are lacking and this guy is verging on treason.

  2. This is yet ANOTHER decision of this federal government that simply doesn't pass the pub test and nobody buys Pat's implausible excuse. This government must start to make decisions based on what is in the national interest rather than what might interest focus groups comprising latte sipping residents of inner cities. The Prime Minister must have the courage to admit this decision is an error and immediately direct Defence to ship the 45 choppers to Ukraine regardless of the platforms' serviceability to prevent any further harm to our global reputation. Bury the choppers mate and the electorate will bury your government. The silent majority has had a gut full.

  3. Especially as just such a scenario was suggested to Prime Minister Albanese on 5/10/23.

This email received polite albeit non committal replies from Mr Trudeau's office and Mr Sunacs office however nothing from Our Prime Minister.

    " Dear Prime Minister.

    This email concerns UKRAINE.

There exists a real possibility that U.S. military aid to Ukraine may face extended disruption with the imminent and possibly lengthy political turmoil  unfolding in the U.S with the Speakers role.

I urge you to contact and join together with the other democracies of The U.K. and Canada  to contribute jointly to a level that enables Ukraine to  survive until U.S. and NATO support can be resumed to enable Ukraine to achieve a victory suitable to their national interests.

Unpredictable as global conflict can be none of our three nations are in imminent danger of major conflict and surely all three nations could run down some military assets in the short term. Perhaps in conjunction with the current U.S. Administration on a " Lend & Replace " basis?

    Please consider my application.

    Sincerely "

  5. I think Albo should have a mental assessment to see if he is fit for office, because I have never known a government to make so many unbelievable mistakes one after the other, this is not just being weak, this is more like insanity and he seems to be unaware that he has done anything wrong, he is like a chicken with its head cut off running around having no idea what's happening

  6. Bolt needs to get his head on straight. The war in Ukraine is proxy and Zelensky is fighting for democracy. However there is a very valid reason the war must remain limited. Both sides can gain access to tactical nuclear weapons, and then we would all be stuffed.

  7. Labor doesn't care about Ukraine war torn citizens, they cares about votes. That's why they will deliver the Taipan helicopters in the dead of night to Hamas, to fight Labor's old enemy Israel. Labor's new vote garnering mantra is "From the Blue Mountains to the Sea".
