  1. “Rina and Vanda sold the hotel in June 2015 to Texan and are no longer the owners of Calumet Inn.

The hotel was briefly returned to the sisters, who then sold the hotel to Tammy Grubbs.

The hotel had fallen into a state of disrepair.

In March 2020, it was condemned by the city of Pipestone after a fire inspection found nine violations of the state’s fire code.

Work was completed and the Inn was uncondemned on April 30th 2020.

Owner Tammy Grubbs has made a number of claims against the city council over the treatment of the hotel.

    Calumet Inn is now closed”

  2. For anyone wondering (as was I), "Caribbean" does have a correct pronunciation: "CARE – ruh – bee – uhn." That's how Caribbean people pronounce it, so that's kinda undeniable.

Then, British dialect turned that pronunciation into more of a "KAH – ruh – bee – uhn", not super different, just an accent change really, but it is noticeably different.

But then, American dialect added their own accent to the British pronunciation, which sped up the sounds to flow more into conversation, which eventually became "ker – I – bee – uhn."

AND THEN, all the different American and British dialects, all the different WORDLY dialects, gaining of knowledge, immigration, tourism, etc. etc., made all those different pronunciations practically local in how they are pronounced in any given area, and sometimes, in any given family.

So THAT'S why people say it differently pretty much everywhere. It's different between countries, it's different between states and territories, it's different between towns and cities, hell, it's even different between families and individual people.

So, while there IS a correct pronunciation, due to there being so many different English-speaking dialects in the world, people just started saying it in the way that was most comfortable for their own dialect, which is why there is so much confusion, and so many ways to say it. It's why you and your friends say it differently from each other, it's why you've probably looked it up, and it's why you expanded this comment.

    Linguistics history is cool!
