  1. Not sure if you are aware of the history of Vietnam.
If you get papers through the "freedom of information act" the U.S. Navy made up the entire story of the Gulf of Tonkin, just to get us into the war.

  2. The U.S. won military battles…they lost politically. Our politicians were trying to keep the war from dragging China and Russia in. So, they never let the military attack North Vietnam. However, the truth is our military was capturing and killing Chinese military personnel and the Russians were operating the MIGs in air combat.

The tragedy of Vietnam is that it never should have happened. The Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh actually lived in the US at one point. He tried to approach the US President at the end of WWII to get the US support. However, a secretary intercepted him and thought he wasn't worth passing the message on to the President.

The US stood behind our ally France, and the US paid for France to fight the Vietnamese from 1945-1954…and FRANCE got their butts kicked militarily. And since the US was supporting the enemy, Ho Chi Minh had to turn to Russia and China for aid to fight for their independence. When France surrendered, the US stepped in. Ironically, our allies in Europe abandoned US as England stayed neutral and openly criticized the US. France turned on the US, Sweden sent aid and military advisors to North Vietnam. I guess Europe forgot the US saved them from Germany twice, was standing in the way of Russia taking them over…let alone the American taxpayers were paying for Europe to rebuild after WWII and the US farmers fed the European continent after WWII.

  3. Military battles we won, politically we lost

I know this is about Vietnam but here’s this story, The british DH-98 Mosquito in the 1930's was cancelled because the politics didn’t like the fact that it was made of wood and metal would later become scarce and it’s only during the Battle of britain in 1940 when their short of fighters that they finally get the Mosquito

  4. Let's be clear, when he says "politicians", he is talking about Democrat President Lyndon B. Johnson, because the only politicians in the executive branch are the President & VP, every other cabinet level leader is appointed by the President. There is a history of Democrats putting politics over the lives of our troops, just like you saw in Afghanistan recently.

  5. at 5:20 to 5:50 how sick in the head were these politicans to order something like that. war means to win it and not set rules to play patty cakes with the enemy!! thats why this war was so sad for our troops to even fight in it.

  6. Vietnam gets branded as a loss for America, which is pretty crappy considering they were never really allowed to fight. It’s not hard to win a fight against an opposing force that’s been given orders not to strike first and in some cases even fight back.

  8. What killed me as a Patriotic American, is hearing about North Vietnamese generals after the war talking about how the Americans had no idea how close they were to winning the war with the Linebacker bombing raids of North Vietnam, and if they just kept it up a little longer they would of Ben forced to the Negotiation table

  9. Another example that just ridiculous, is of a Special Forces outpost in Afghanistan getting their hands on 105mm recoilless rifles with a ton of ammunition, this ancient yet still highly effective and easy to use weapon changed the entire dynamic of the fight, instead of calling in artillery or close air, or use their own mortars, they could within seconds fire a huge round at the mountains etc and bc it’s a 105mm round it scared the crap out of the Taliban, and they even had some flechette rounds, so if your in Manjams and think your safe firing from a safe distance and all of a sudden it sounds like a giant beehive is hitting all around you, that’s terrifying, might not cause a lot of killed but it does amount to a lot to the enemy having a bad day bc theirs tiny darts stuck in em

  10. Bolo in the Military means "Be On the Look Out", in Asian Pacific simply means single-edge large cutting tool "Machete" use for clearing vegetations or during Trail Blazing (begin a new undertaking).
