  1. I honestly dont know if anything would have really made it good, since Last Crusade was such a great ending for the character. Literally rides off into the sunset. Not only that, but an old Indiana Jones just isnt very cool, especially since the film even almost becomes a parody, showing how he cant do the things he used to. Old Indy really only works if you go all in on a new character, with him taking on the side role like Sean Connery did. No kids are gonna get excited watching an old geezer they dont even know who can barely walk, let alone run, try and save the day. If you wanna make a movie with an Old Indy, fine, but you gotta accept its for an older audience, and certainly wont be a classic.

  2. Damn, you are right, I’d much prefer that draft script Spielberg got excited about than the Crystal Skull we got. The only thing I did like about the movie that others seem to hate is Kate Blanchett chewing up the scenery with her bad, husky Slavic accent. Oh, I’d want to keep her because she’s terrific to watch.

  3. George Lucas is sometimes his own worst enemy. The Darabont script would have a made a great sounding movie. I don't have the hate that some people do for KOTCS, but that earlier script still seems like a better and more streamlined story to me.

  4. Its because of the paranormal and exotic ancient folklore that professor Jones see at his journy and expeditions and he believes that these powers exist when in contact with the local people

1936 -Atomic ark ancient weapaon Egypte CIA secret file

  5. Darabonts script sounds only mildly better and both that and the final version are just much much worse versions of the Fate of Atlantis story. Fate really is the true fourth indie movie.

  6. When I heard "Indiana Jones & The City of the Gods" I thought it was going to be something more akin to that one old game where he goes to Babylon because the Russians were digging there in search of something even bigger than the atomic bomb. It even makes sense with the whole idea that we shouldn't have access to such destructive power.

Still much finer than the mess we ultimately had.

  7. This film should get a re-edit "special edition". Cut the nuked fridge and the vine swinging scenes, and limit the John Hurt character somehow. I agree that once Connery said no, then the script should have been re-written to not need Hurt's character. Also re-do the effects and editing for the climax so the "alien" angle is more mysterious and cryptic and less in your face. Those things would all make this a much better movie without having to reshoot…if anything it would be cutting 10 minutes or so from the run-time.

  8. You know what they REALLY should have done for Indiana Jones 4? Nothing. Not make it. They rode off into the goddamned sunset in the previous film. It was OVER. To be honest, no matter how good the script was, i didn;t want to see a 65 year old Indy messing it up with Commies. He should have left with dignity. And if they really wanna bring back Indy? Reboot it with a female lead, so people wouldn't compare it as much to the originals. Done.

  9. I always thought it was 'allright, let's get this made now and if George wants his alien thing: fine'. Which seems to be thought right.
Although, I have to admit I liked Crystal Skull mostly. John Hurt's role was a real good move. And the idea of not having nazi's also. But overall.. well it did not top the previous movie.

  10. It fucking sucks that Lucas turned down Darabont's script. Given how talented a guy Darabont is, I'm certain it was leagues better than the Frankenstein monster-ish story we got. Every story I've heard paints Lucas as the reason why KOTCS sucked, and this just adds to it.

  11. Compared to Salvation and Revenge of the Sith (the ones that I could revisit and gives me appreciation on them) this one felt kinda rough.
Like if I watched Dial of Destiny and go back and rewatch this movie, my thoughts would be exactly the same.

  12. Wait until Indy 5 and everyone will view Crystal Skull like they view the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy. My kids can't distinguish the difference between the 6 star wars movies and I anticipate the same with the 4 Indy movies in a few more years. So, I think people need to get over the whole Crystal Skull thing because it's going to get a whole lot worse.
