  1. THey had to use Indian Navy stokers and engineers on the old oil fired ships we had in the Australian Navy like the HMAS Melbourne because we no longer had the expertise to do it locally

  2. USN Submarine duty at sea means 1-2 fire training drills per week. There is at least a drill of some kind every day, including in port drills putting pressure on the in port watch of approximately 1/3 crew on board.

Annually, our damage control teams, leaders, and ancillary sailors would qualify to maintain proficiently. That included flooding, hot weapon run, collision, reactor, engine room, torpedo room fire and flooding combos that you always failed during the first one of three days of training. They humbled us first, backed off the screws a little and gradually made the drills more dangerous and complicated to find our breaking points: we had to know our weaknesses and it served to mature the juniors. Makes for a smart and sharp crew.

After that, the CO speaks and firmly informs us to expect many drills on our weak points.

No way can civilian crews afford such training.

But point is, that merchant was in excellent Indian Navy hands.

  3. When I was in the US Navy, we had firefighting in boot camp, firefight at 32nd Street Naval Base for the West Coast – that was a week long, if I recall correctly – and firefighting drills on board ship, even for those of us assigned to the Air Wing and not ship's company.

  4. We are talking about efforts taken by the navies and how the merchant fleet together with the navies could go through the dangerous situation in the GoA and the Red Sea. This situation can be handled safely by diplomatic channels but the people in power are not doing anything diplomatically about this situation and they leave it to us (yes, we all) to deal with the situation on our own. What a shame.

  5. Being an election year between Biden and Trump. Also with Nikki. Haley, the USN knows exactly how to take measures to put a stop to these matters with quick and I mean quick END to it all ! I believe they're being held back by POTUS due to the election year. This is unfortunate. If our NATO allies and ships are being attacked our burk class and others including carriers can address this matter and solve it in a couple of days. Biden is worried about the temperature of the Middle East. He believes it's boiling and being familiar of the Middle East. It's only out of simmer. He needs to let the USN do their job and move on. Wish you well and I wish all of the ships well and all the navies. Godspeed!🕊️🕊️🕊️

  6. Esta vez hemos permitido que la India los salve. Si no responden a las fuerzas armadas yemeníes, hundiremos los barcos y a quienquiera que rescate a sus tripulaciones. Este es su último intento. 🔥🇾🇪🔥✌

  7. The ships targeted by Ansar Allah (the Houthis) are Yemeni due to their connections with Israeli Zionists, who engage in aggression and genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza. They block food and medicine from reaching them.
