  4. If they are offering full IP then it is likely it is something that is obsolete technologically and that they donot consider it a competitor to their own future engines.

  5. On the full IPR for the Rolls Royce developed 120 kn engine, we are paying for it so naturally we will own the IPR, infact Rolls Royce will seek our permission to export it and we will earn Royalty if they dont make it in India for the export deal.

This offer is on since 2015, but our mad obsession with Kaveri and our stupid faith in DRDO always results in years and years of delay. Engine making is not everybody's cup of tea. Even Russians dont have the advance tech that the west has.

That said I am happy that the Rolls Royce deal is going thru. Better late then never.

Ironically we are correcting our stupidity over the Marut fighter. Then too Bristol Electric of Britain has offered not only to design a fresh engine for a one time fee make intial batch at their factory and then transfer entire tech with IPR, Machinery training to HAL. That time Nehru forced to consider the Egyptian Helwan engines designed by Nazi engineers to help his friend Nasser. The Nazi engines turned out to be under powered and then came the treaty with USSR in 1971 during the cold war. that shut the door any tech transfers from the west. India suffered.

Incidentally the IAF had selected the British Lightning II fighter Jet, The fastest Fighter in the world at the time with full TOT to HAL in the late 50s. But V Krishna Menon switched it to Mig 21 and we kept importing it till 2000.

Our stupidity has no limits. We keep doing slavery of Russia that never even allowed us to MRO Russian jets.

  6. We cannot buy AL 41 without risking sanctions. These are Rumors spread by Russians to scuttle the Rolls Royce deal. Our delegation is in UK and AL 41 come out.
Further AL 41 were to power the SU 57 and Russia has admitted that the engine will need more time, hence the SU 57 is currently fitted with AL 30 Engines as per Janes, Sheperd and other Military journals.

  7. Turkey is pissed I guess, they sent RFP to Rolls Royce early in 2022 for development of jet engine with full IP and no restrictions on exports but there is o clarity as to what happened. Eventually Turkey created domestic competition between 2 Turkish companies to produce a jet engine for Turkeys 5th or 6th generation fighter aircraft. Well it comes down to sheer number of jet engines Turkey would order and India would order that sort helps deducting which deal is worth investing. I hear India is ready to order a minimum of 1000 jet engines as a firm order, I wonder where would Turkey stack up 300-400?

  9. several years to start phasing in the AL-41F engine?! HAL can (and has) already build the -31 in house, it is not a stretch for Russia to sell local production rights and send down a team of technicians to have production up and running in gar less time.

Now India will have to count on Russia's domestic production, which is under sanctions that show no sign of easing and will effect their economy for years to come even if they ended tomorrow.

Not trying to be political, I just think it really sets India up for failure when the Super Sukhoi program actually hinges on the -41 to provide more power to new systems and to fix performance issues with the -31.

  10. Whatever is the internal planning or thought process of IAF or ministry. Amazingly why does it get disclosed on media videos. Secondly LPD should be like mini aircraft carriers since Indian Navy has a budget problem and LPD can solve the problem as cheap alternative and share little burden requirement/need of big carriers to some extent. LPD should be able to handle small contingent of 6-8 fighter aircraft too beside the helicopters since these would be around 20000 ton ships which is equivalent to old decommissioned Indian aircraft carriers.

  11. Hey, make a solid iron submarine to ram enemy subs. Also try to make 3 of them which can be connected back to back and can serve the purpose of airfield, flying deck. These subs can carry fuel for fighter jets. This way you save lot of money and operate privately
