India tunnel collapse: rescue mission underway for 40 trapped workers

A tunnel under construction in Utterkashi, India collapsed on Sunday, trapping 40 workers.

Rescue operations commenced on Monday, with excavators moving mass amounts of rubble from in and outside of the tunnel.

The workers are all โ€œsafe,โ€ according to assistant commander of the National Disaster Response Force Karamveer Singh Bhandari, who also said they had been supplied with oxygen, food and water.

โ€œWe hope to rescue them by today,โ€ Bhandari said on Monday morning.

  1. I hope the workers are fine. That's the problem when you challenge with China. Indian government is fully responsible for this, they certainly gave the contract to some scam company which resulted in this.

  2. Oh wow! They were able to supply the trapped workers with food & water, yet they couldnโ€™t pull them out one by one through the same means??
I guess the workers are just enjoying their days off?
