India to the rescue of Sri Lanka yet again; 'Will send $500 million in fuel aid' to Island nation

Sri Lankan Foreign Minister GL Peiris has said that India will give the crisis-hit island nation an additional $500 million in financial assistance to buy fuel. He added that Bangladesh was also willing to postpone $450 million in swap repayments to ease Colombo’s burden. He was quoted by Reuters as saying, “Assistance by the IMF will take about six months to come to us and it will come in tranches. During the intervening period, we need to find funds to keep our people supplied with essentials.” Watch this video for more details.

  1. Next financial crisis after srilanka is in India .Get ready .Our Indian PM is deaf and blind to our voices and sufferings but he is active on giving relief to Srilanka instead of giving to his own Indian people .He sees inflation in srilanka but a lemon which is now at Rs 12 does not bother modi .Next time in 2024 general elections, Modi go to srilanka for votes don't come to us ,will not vote for youuuuu.

  2. Let the Rajpakshka resign and leave. National govt must decide long route of reivival. India must not prop a regime who has been anti India. Our assistance is from a state other state. Let it be formalised in an agreement with quid pros. Rajpaks don't have legitimacy and therefore can't talk and decide. Best time to build influence.

  4. There are countries around us that take advantage of Indo-Sino rivalry. I think govt should start setting conditions for aid. For starters, talk about Tamil fishermen with Sri Lanka.

  6. Protests are only making the situation worse. If there's a crisis, people of the country should take onus on themselves to get out of the crisis. Not protest, destroy property and waste even more of the scarce resources at hand

  7. No matter how many times India help Sri Lanka, finally they will join the Chinese. So, don't waste the Indian taxpayers money on feeding a snake like Sri Lanka.
