Rescue teams from the eThekwini metro in Durban and the police are in the process of retrieving the body of a victim from a river at Cato Crest in Durban. It’s believed the victim was in his shack when it was swept away by a swollen river after the city was hit by a severe storm on Tuesday.
Authorities have confirmed the death of at least one victim. Provincial emergency services reported that it treated at least six people for injuries.
The city and the province are still assessing the damage caused by storms and floods in KwaZulu-Natal over the last two days. We cross to Mlondi Radebe.
