  1. Thanks for doing a recap on this one, one of my most favourite movies, I actually just watched this the other day. Nothing flashy, and before the age of CGI, which is good to good story, good characters.

  2. If a modern remake is filmed they need to make 40 the final birthday. 40 is still relatively young in a world where very healthy people live 100 years and it would also make casting easier as they would be able to hire actors older than 30 for the roles. The main character and his girlfriend might be 39 instead of 29 when they make their "run" to avoid "renewal".

If they pick a very old actor for the old man at the end then late 30s will by comparison still look very young.

  3. That LOOKS like a happy ending but…

Those were all pampered brainwashed people who had been living lives of luxury where every whim was taking care of for them and now they have to grow or hunt for their own food, make their own clothing, deal with bad weather, hell they do not even know what the SUN is.

And if any of them suffer illness or injury they won't have access to the advanced medical technology they were once used to.

Its like taking pampered tame housepet animals and throwing them back into the jungle.

  4. In the novel ages were in groups of 7, but for the movie they didn't feel that Michael York could pass for 21 so they modified the ages. 0-7 you are a child raised on a robotic creche without human contact. 8-14 you are free to live in the cities and everything you want is free. 15-21 you are programmed with a job and work for the rest of your life. 21+ you get a Last-Day where everything is free; and at the end you get "put to sleep."

  5. They'll all be dead in two weeks without a replicator. A cautionary tale of kundalini activation without the necessary preceding lessons. Their corpses will be munched on by housecats.
