Why hasn't Ukraine targeted the Russian infrastructure. It seems that knocking out some power grids might get the people of Russia to take a deeper look at what's going on in Ukraine.
Attacking fuel tanker trains is a solid idea. Besides destroying fuel, derailments take time ti clean up, sections of track are damaged and all trains are delayed. Sometimes these tanker trains sit in the same location for several days making them vulnerable to drones and missiles
When the F-16 appears in Ukrainian skies in decent numbers its going to be a rude shock to the Orc's. The F-16 is a very versatile fighter:
1. It can detect and intercept Russian warplanes, helicopters and cruise missiles with both short and medium range AA missiles
2. It's medium range AA missiles can reach the Russian bombers launching VAB glide bombs and will probably force the Russian planes to pull back out of launch range
3. It can carry JDAM guided bombs for much more precision bombing of Russian locations
4. It can carry Harpoon anti-ship missiles which means it can get within range of Sevastopol, Fedosia and the Kerch Bridge to launch
5. It can carry HARM missiles (a lot of them) which are designed for taking our ground AA missile batteries and radars which should increase the speed at which Ukraine is degrading Russian AA defenses
If Belgium, Netherlands, Norway and Denmark all eventually donate their F-16's, the Ukrainians should end up with 125 Planes or about 8 squadrons. That's a lot of very capable warplanes and is likely to shift the airpower equation in Ukraines favor. It means they will be able to mount dozens of sorties day or night against the Russians. Other friendly countries operate the F-16 and its possible more of them will eventually donate to the Ukraine fleet.
Also worth pointing out that the USA has about 936 F-16's in service and reserve stocks which they are gradually phasing out in favor of the F-35. If they choose to donate even 10% of those stocks, thats another 90 planes and that would be enough to give Ukraine a numerical edge over the Russians in the Ukraine theater. Russia would have to pull warplanes from other regions to address the balance.
Now, if we can just get the Swede's to donate a squadron of JAS-39 Gripen and the French to donate a Squadron of Mirage-2000, the Ukrainian's will have an extremely formidable Air Force, taking on everything the Russians can put in the air.
