Rest in Peace, Shane MacGowan.
Honestly one of the best lyricists using language to it’s beauty n ugly a pirate of poetry. You skipped the actual best lyrics “I coulda been someone/ well so could anyone”
His lyrics can go through historic or pop culture references to love n death to the plight of Irish people or just any people and yeah have a hopefulness to them. His death is easier to handle with his songs.
It is Matt Dylan
He was friends with Shane
the greatest Christmas song…………………ever!
As much as I love Fairytale. Listen to A Rainy night in Soho, my favorite Pogues song, the man was a poetic genius. Listen to Haunted his duet Sinead O'Connor with another brilliant irish artist gone too soon. I get goosebumps everytime i hear either of those 2 songs.
RIP Shane
'What we do in life echoes in eternity'
True for Shane, vale, all our hearts are broken…. ❤
Such Tom Waits vibes from that video
It's a tin whistle
Jem finer..not Jim ❤
Tin Whistle
Fair play to you
It's just so romantic and not giving a fcuk – win
The fact the Irish built New York… And Shane Gowan wrote the most romantic song about it.. – Perfection
Great Tribute. This really is the best Christmas Song ever, followed closely by Tim Minchin's White Wine In The Sun.
It's called Tin Whistle. Mandolin, drums, piano, guitar and bass I think 😂 random fact there is no song called Galway Bay
I never heard this song before this video. I played it and it made me cry. 😂 now im checking out shane and the pouges. And i already know how special this guy was glad i at least found them now
It’s a Tin Whistle and that is in fact Matt Dillon.
Produced by the great Steve Lillywhite who was married to Kirsty MacColl
Now they're both gone it makes me super sad.
There is a whole doco about it. Yes that's Matt Dillon
Fairytale of new york to be christmas number 1 2023…
That was in fact Matt Dillon. RIP Shane
Thanks, we love him. And that was Matt Dillon.
It's an Irish Tin Whistle, probably in D tuning.
My deepest condolences to Shane’s family and friends. Rest in peace always loved but never forgotten!
doont let the bells end is a slow burn justin. chart positions show fairytale of new york was 20 years old before it was truly accepted as a Christmas classic
Best duet? Gonna have to disagree. My vote goes for the ethereal, and timeless, "Don't Go Breakin My Heart" by Elton John/Kiki Dee.
It' a Tin Whistle.
As good as the Darkness song is, it will never be a "Fairy-tale of New York" but a ruddy good Christmas song in modern terms which shows no sign of being beaten any time soon. So well done! I always appreciate "Don't let the bells end" and not just for childish reasons
This song is one of the very few that makes you want to cry but dance with joy at the same time…. what i respected about Shane was that he always without fail wore his heart on his sleeve……I could have be someone, well so could anyone…..what a timeless lyric, so simple but so poiniant.
Neither Justin or you or I will be here if Keith Richards ever dies…
Nice breakdown Justin cheers.
Now where can i get one of those wooley cardigans? 😊
A very nice tribute Justin well done
Don't honor the dead!!.They sleeping in death!¡Honour the living!!!!.Shane McGowan was a tortured soul. Not one person to truly help him!!.He had a disease!!!!!.Give me a break!!!!.The Irish people are truly brain dead!!!.Listen to the priest calling Shane McGowan an exemplary Christian drinks themselves to the grave??.??.To all the good people of Ireland please get this religious tripe out of your Country. What good are they doing for the Country of Ireland?????.SLEEP WELL SHANE McGOWAN.YOUR COUNTRY FAILED YOU INCLUDING THIS DEMONIC RELIGION CALLED CATHOLOCISM.😢😢😢😢
Penny whistle/tin whistle bra
There something honest and humble about the Pogues. Magnificent live too. Rainy night in soho, just simple but magnificent. Shane could really plant a the scene of a short story in your head and move you. Thousands are sailing, stirring and simplistic yet so moving and as deep as the ocean he sings to us about. Wonderful. Stay Free! x
You are a beautiful human being as was Shane
That is Matt Dillon
It's called a Low whistle
Yes one of the greatest duets of all time …. Raw emotional great .
A Tunbridge wells man rip
Dolly Parton , Kenny rogers not bad , but I think this takes it
Jem Finer, not Jim Finer.
Great duets? Perhaps Nick Cave and Kylie Minogue or Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers?
😂😂nice review.
In the version sung at Shane’s funeral yesterday, it sounded like the f word was replaced with braggart, which seems a perfect replacement
Her voice is perfect
