Singapore’s Ministry of Health (MOH) said on Wednesday (Sep 4) that it will offer the mpox vaccine to healthcare workers at highest risk of exposure and close contacts of confirmed cases. This is among measures it announced as part of public health preparedness measures for mpox Clade I.
“This is likely to be a troublesome virus that we can manage. It will very unlikely lead to the kind of disruption that happened during COVID-19,” said Singapore Health Minister Ong Ye Kung at the press conference.

I believe this is the first time I've seen a full Minister openly ask during a press conference for feedback regarding potential concerns from certain sections of the people in relation to a health threat. It does appear that this 4G team, or at least Minister Ong, is serious about hearing from the ground and taking those feedback into consideration. Very refreshing. Very encouraging for future generations, as well as the political landscape and development of Singapore.
I think is useful information for the state of Michigan of the United States of America.
All these outbreaks imo point towards greater need for remote working or at least flexible work arrangements. This will make the workforce more adaptable to the external environment such as viruses.

thank you MOH for the press conference and clarity. It is good to be clear and concise in conveying messages early. But contrary to what Min Ong said about scenarios of transmission, Dr Ho mentioned for elderlies to be masked if they are concern. I think there should be consistency in the messaging. If it is currently only transmitted via physical contact, then emphasis should be placed on constant sanitizing / washing of hands. Also, reporters did not correct Min Ong when he said those "born after 1980s…..". It should be those born BEFORE 1980 would have received the small pox vaccine. Are we supposed to assume that vaccine taken over 40 years ago are still effective? Nevertheless, this press conference is so much clearer as opposed to those held by COVID MTF.
