Improving our SENTINEL ship | No Man's Sky: Worlds Part 1 Gameplay | 16

We’ve spent almost all of our Nanites on S Class upgrades for the Sentinel ship so we’ll need to earn more a.s.a.p. Today we continue recruiting crew for our freighter and defeat more pirates in an awesome freighter rescue!

My first look at the Worlds Part 1 (Update 5.0) for No Man’s Sky, a game about exploration and survival in an infinite procedurally generated universe.

I first played the game in January 2021 on console, today we’re playing PVE on PC and it is utterly breath-taking. Join me on my journey as we embark on an epic voyage of discovery and adventure!

Recorded September 16th, 2024.

  1. After playing since day one, I still don't understand the upgrade system, but you can have more than one upgrade to each system installed in your exosuit, multitool, and starship. I get confused on how many of which ones, but you can have at least 3 S class photon cannon upgrades and more C and B class. I don't know what is considered "Base" install and what is an upgrade. There are also additional classes of forbidden upgrades from killing sentinels and autophage exosuit and multitool expansions from secret stuff you will eventually find. They can amp up your multitool to high damage levels- mine is 14,000 and I don't think I'm min/maxing at all. My starship is at 390 damage and I think that's low for a lot of players.

  2. Aid the scientist means you need to complete the mission the scientist wants, the observatory one. Also, when fleets warp into the system you are in, you can often recruit frigates, for units, to join your fleet. Look for the green ship symbols with the unit symbol on them. Fly near them to get the communication prompt. Thanks and loving the series.

  3. You can't advance the overseer quest because you need circuit boards that you will learn from the scientist, what you already have are microprocessors is easy to confuse both, but yeah sometimes the game could be more clearer that some quests are tied together.

You can discard Atlas Pass v1 once you craft v2, as v2 unlocks both v1 crates and v2 doors on planets. I stored my v1 pass but never needed it after crafting v2 and then v3
The thing is there was a major rework around atlas passes, I rememeber you needed v1 for something down the line in way back versions, but not anymore, completed artemis/apollo line and atlas path and didn't need it after crafting v2/V3 pass. In fact, until quite recently you had v2 and v3 doors in the upper floor of space stations, that lead to guilds and so on. Since the space station rework in a recent update you can still find the v2 doors in some minor settlments or factories here and there in planets, but I am yet to find any V3 interface in the actual version of the game.

Just finished the aquarius expedition, never the reputation system of redeeming items was so useful, redeemed about 70 ion batteries and several warp hypercore(warp cells on steorids) from the explorers guild that were sooo useful instead of having to farm phosphorus or dioxite for "frozen/scorched" planets or craft tens of warp cells to warp all the needed distances.

  4. About the Translators (including Artemis').
The translators translate words while you're in conversation but do not teach you the words in the same way you learn them from Knowledge Stones or Monuments and you "forget" those words once the conversation is over.
The translators link in your space suit but they do not provide bonuses to each other like other tech. For maximum benefit you must have all 4 modules installed. You'll be able to translate a maximum of 7 words in addition to what you already have learned from Knowledge Stones and Monuments. If you don't have all the translators installed you will not get maximum benefit. Furthermore, there are some words which you can never learn through conventional means. The translators cover this problem.
Personally, I'd leave them all installed but it's up to you.

  5. 32:04 Those features are only active during Extreme Storms. If you want to collect 'em you just gotta "weather the storm" and do it. Luckily, a little secret about them is that they're usually in a line. Run over to the one you see and look through your visor. The next node and the one's beyond should be in a (mostly) straight line, almost as if they follow the Latitude and/or Longitude lines of the planet.

  6. 1:07:46 No need to go back through comments. I'll just post it again. The best way to find Storage Augmentation items is to disassemble Crashed Ships. You can do this a couple ways. The easiest, however, in early game is to trade Navigation Data for Distress Signal Planetary Charts at the Cartographer on the bottom floor of Space Stations. Not every Distress Signal chart will lead you to a Crashed Ship but I've found it to be better than the 10% chance or whatever they say it is on the NMS Wiki. Trading Navigation Data for Distress Signal charts is 1 to 1, rather efficient, whereas trading for something like an Exosuit Upgrade chart is 3 Navigation Data for 1 chart.

  7. “Expanding the Base” is another main mission I believe, with possibly a sub-quest which, when selected, would highlight the Scientist. Although it is the Korvax who’ll help you get Circuit Boards. (They are something you can craft once you’ve unlocked the recipe.)

Glad to see you using the Sentinel ship, they’re great. Can use Radiant Shards to recharge everything, and when fully maxed with upgrades they’re fast and strong in a fight. Just wait until you happen upon a Pirate Dreadnought battle!

P.S. you need Faecium…I saw some in your Food Storage for the Nutrient Processor.

  8. You can build a room on the freighter to plant crops, but I don't know if the farmer's mission takes this as valid for the mission. If it works, then you wouldn't need to go to the planetary base to build the plant tray to continue the mission. Does anyone know?

  9. Explorer's Guild's envoys often give free Salvaged Frigate Modules if you have the right rank with said Guild. If you find a space station that have the free module you need, rename it sou you can travel back and get it again whenever , it respawns every time you teleport there.
