Even during the holiday rush, VA will rush your prescriptions to you
Our Mail Order Pharmacy team works hard to make sure you get your medications.
If you get your VA prescriptions through the mail, you can rest assured this holiday season: VA is working hard to make sure you continue to get your medications on time, even if there’s an increase in mail volume.
Our Consolidated Mail Order Pharmacy mail team continually monitors the time it takes the U.S. Postal Service to deliver packages to Veterans. We don’t anticipate any delays this year—but if slowdowns do occur, we have backup plans in place.
No delays anticipated
First, if a delivery delay is expected, your VA medical center will fill your prescription earlier.
Then, we’ll work with the Postal Service and your local medical center to make sure your prescription is delivered on time.
If that’s not enough to guarantee on-time delivery, we’ll use FedEx Ground or an overnight delivery service—whatever it takes.
Prescriptions given priority
If you’re concerned that your prescriptions won’t be given priority over other packages by the Postal Service, rest assured that the Postal Service federal account manager has confirmed that this is not the case.
In VA, your prescriptions (and your health) come first—and this holiday season, we’re doing everything we can to make sure you get them when you need them.

I've only had a few issues with meds in the mail. When I need an emergency script they are always..well have been there to help. Thanks for all the info brother.
My prescriptions are always accessible. Called it in 2 days ago and it is already here.
The VA is the most reliable thing in my life. I have no gripes about the VA at all.
In my experience this is true. Just last week the VA overnighted an emergency prescription for me, which arrived the next day.
Why is the VA treating illegal Aliens at the border?????
I Call BS! Just this Year, I had My Meds ( Blood Thinners ) Not Show Up and even called them 3 Weeks in Advance and my Legs Suffered for those 18 Days… I was out for 2.5 Weeks. Then just these Past couple of Months, it took them 1.5 Months to get my Insulin and having to Call them every few days and Renew the prescription because They Keep Dropping it, loosing it, Sending it to Another VA almost 150 miles Away, Hanging up on me and and and and… Each Time Sending it "Over Night"… Called for it in the Middle of Oct (16th). Didn't Get them Until Dec 4th… If I have a Hell of a Time getting my Meds Here in the States, Just think of how Bad it will be if I moved to the Philippines.
So It Don't do a DamnBit of Good if the VA Looses your Prescripts, The Auto Call Bot Fails to Record, They Hangup On You while you are Ordering or as soon as they Answer, Send it somewhere else to be Picked up at the Window, Overnight it and it end up in another States VA And and and and … All this and More has happened to me… And everytime I Call and DO actually Get a Person, it is Never the Same Person and even ones States Away that has No F'n Clue what's Going on… Or Transferred to a Completely Different Department…
Thanks
smoke screen.. had issue with my BP meds,/biologics had to call several times and had to get 2 to 3 bridge prescriptions before they the VA pharmacy corrected the issue.
Took 3 weeks a few times this yr
They can't even set a firm appointment for a vet. You can't call in and talk to your primary care without having to go through scheduling in a whole different state from your VA hospital. And they will return a phone call within two days.😅😅😅
I honestly can't complain about pharmaceutical service from the VA in NC. I order online or Dr. ordered and without fail it is at my door in 3-4 days.
I don't believe this for a minute. Especially since our local USPS is changing its routing center to a town 200 miles east of here, so especially in winter time the odds a storm delays a shipment will increase as well.
It depends on the vamc, some have rotating specialty physicians that may cover up to 3 hospitals in a month. Which may not have a specialist residence. It happens quite frequently with cardiologist. So prescription can be delayed, which not good thing, when they decide not to return for whatever reason. It leaves us veterans hanging. Because no notice is givin to their patients. It's happened to me on two different occasions. Our VA PCP controls the narrative to specialty physicians. But takes 3 months to be seen to another cardiologist. So if the vet doesn't have 90 day script, it could be a dire situation with rotating va specialty cardiologist. So to be proactive I choose a medicare cardiologist to cover me has well. They can write the prescription to the VA if need be. The system I paid into the system I earned.
Now my VA PCP told me I can't have 2 cardiologist. I told pcp it not up too you, it's up to me. Because the system I earned keeps dropping the ball. We will see how this plays out. Because I can't afford to be in emergency room over someone else negligence.

I have reordered my meds 10 days to 2 weeks in advance and still don’t get them until after I have run out. Last time this happened I was out of my pain meds for 5 days before they came. This happened after I messaged my Doc and had him order them. More BS from the VA.
Always use auto refills…
Are you also talking about Express Scripts?
I wish they would give us a card that we could use at CVS or Walgreens
I'm a Disabled veteran Marine who served in Okinawa and boot camp was Paris Island is there anything on these places I served from 1987 to 1990!!
The only time I’ve had a problem was when I began my treatment for pancreatic cancer. Actually turned out it was with the company that was to provide the medicine! Other wise everything I need has been on time.
I call BS. I requested a refill, a full 7 days later they put it in the mail. 9 days after requesting my refill, I got my meds. That was 5 days without my meds.
