One of the most important roles that a helicopter pilot plays whilst operating an aircraft is being an active communicator. When departing from our executive terminal on the Strip, our pilots are responsible for maintaining constant communication with the Las Vegas Air Traffic Control Tower (ATC). The ATC is a service provided by ground-based air traffic controllers who direct aircraft on the ground and through a given section of controlled airspace, and can provide advisory services to aircraft in a non-controlled airspace.
When we operate sightseeing tours to the Grand Canyon, we eventually reach an unrestricted airspace beyond Lake Las Vegas. And although we are flying through an unrestricted airspace, our pilots stay in contact with other pilots both in and outside of our company, to ensure they are aware of any other aircraft that may be flying nearby.
