I’m making some changes that people won’t like.

I love off roading, and used to really love doing snow recovery out in the mountains. But that has changed over time and last winter I found myself dreading going out on every job. Between the demands from customers who knew that I helped people for free and that that meant I was OBLIGATED to help them out as well, and the demands from viewers of the channel for more track content because that’s the only reason they watch, I found myself really resenting the snow recovery and wanting nothing to do with it.
Because the simple fact is that the tracks are a pain in the ass and are NOT fun. Sure they look cool and all, but they are rough, loud, slow, expansive to maintain, and absolutely destroy the vehicle you bolt them to. On top of that, I have no actual need for tracks to do the recovery jobs I do. I was only running them because I thought they did good on YouTube.

I built the snow recovery up into something that was a such a hassle to do, and so much more work than necessary, that I was just completely over it and turned down pretty much every off road call I got this winter. So I’m making some changes and going back to how I did it when it was fun and something I actually enjoyed doing it. If people like that, good! If people don’t like that, well that’s good to. I’m going to do what works for me and that’s all I’m going to worry about.

Be sure to check out our Patreon project where we use whatever it brings in in a month as our budget to help someone the following month! I was never a fan of the Patreon idea until I realized that I can use it to help others instead of myself, so I created the Patreon Project where we can all combine our efforts to make a real difference in people’s lives and make the world a better place! For as little as a dollar a month you can join the group of awesome people already on board and be vote to help steer the ship along the way!

  1. Casey, you have the right attitude. Do what you enjoy doing and not just to get YT clicks. If getting clicks is the only reason to do this, you will lose your joy and not want to do it any longer. Life goes by fast enough so you might as well enjoy the journey along the way.

  3. watching others play with very shiny, very expensive tools is peak youtube. but real magic is in a persons technique. just watch any old timer tune a carburetor with nothing more than a well worn dollar store screwdriver.

  4. Simple camera format, straightforward jobs, no generic "YouTube" drama or clickbait. Glad to hear you're returning to what made your channel great in the first place – just being Casey…

  5. I’m so glad this video popped up in my feed because as I watched it, I noticed that YouTube had apparently unsubscribed me! So I fixed that, and I truly enjoyed the video as I do all your videos. Congratulations for throwing aside the tyranny of others expectations and doing what you want the way you want☝️👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼!!!

  6. That’s it, I’m unfollowing you! You just lost a fan! 😡 I came here for cabovers and tracked trucks. You’re a sellout and a phony! Good luck keeping this channel alive with your little ‘towing company’!!!

  7. Man this was a cool story and kinda addresses what pisses me off with youtube right now. Everything is bigger and more extreme and every ones building a wrecker and now every ones building a kei truck and it's just become like normal tv. Over the top and impractical. Youtube is best when ya just watching people living their normal interesting lives.

  8. The description explained it without even needing to watch the video. I am here for the content and if the tracks aren't practical or cost effective then don't use them. I will still watch your videos the same.
