I'm Going to Fight Dainsleif | Genshin Impact Collected Miscellany | Reaction (3/3)

Welcome to the 3rd and final part of this series of reacting to EVERY Genshin Impact Collected Miscellany! This was incredible and I’ve learned a lot. I might have beef with Dainsleif and Alice though…

About Genshin Impact
Genshin Impact is a massive game that throws players into a world where the Archons rule over the land, and elemental visions are granted to worthy mortals. The game follows the Traveler as they go on a quest to find their missing sibling with the companion Paimon.

  1. 1:18:23 Dain saying "I know of no one else who yearns for eternal life as a means to endure limitless suffering." Riminded me that baizhu is chronically ill. Baizhu suffers from some type of ailment that is deemed to be incurable according to Qiqi and Herbalist Gui, it leaves him in a poor state and physiclly weak.

  2. 1:29:20 Kaveh is a character who suprised me because there's a lot more going on in his backstory than one may think, and its not just about art and architecture. It scared me a bit when I read his character stories because he seemed almost too real and relatable, not just for artists but for people who struggles with mental health. His personality and his views are complex and sometimes contradictory, and he's just extremely human in general.
I find amazing that him and Alhaitham are often viewed as mirrors of each other because of their perspective on things (and also their color schemes lol), and together they represent two halves of the human mind: rationality and emotion. These are two opposite ways to approach problems and view the world, and they both do a great job at showing their respective merits and faults.

  3. Have you recently watched across the spiderverse? Your multiverse theory for dainslief really makes me feel like it's spiderverse talking. I have had several crack theories but even I never thought of a multiverse of travelers. Just imagine infinite Paimons, that's just Eldritch horror material.

    Also, collection.

  4. 2:18:30 about Dainsleif's statement, I won't spoil but he has a good reason to say that in my opinion, but it is something you could not know without playing the game.
Below is my interpretation without spoilers, but you'd prefer not to read it since it does gives some hints about the story.

It's true that trying to understand why people do what they do is not being emotional but logical, but the important part is that he's trying to do that, instead of simply condemning them. And that, considering Neuvillette's identity, is not really a given, and Dainsleif probably thinks that not everyone in Neuvillette's place would do that.

  5. Congrats on finishing this massive project and adding it to your -collection-!

I see that most of your questons are already answered, so I'll leave it at that

Regarding niche characters like Nilou, they usually require much more prep work. Especially if you are only starting the game.

But honestly, it may be worth it. Nilou bloom team was the first coherent team I have built for myself and it is still one of my strongest

  6. People say that Dehya is bad because they build and treat her as a DPS when in fact she is a tank

her entire kit is focused on the skill and the skill is a field of resistance to interruption and redirection of damage

"oh but her ult does damage"
yeah dude Yoimiya's ult too but 98% of people ignore it

Cyno and Xiao's kit is focused on the ult, their skill deals damage but you only use it outside of the ult to gather energy and not for the damage

  7. Passives that affect stamina consumption and such cannot stack if they are the same effect themselves. However you can stack a normal stamina passive with say Rosaria’s passive that makes characters quicker at night so you’re really fast at night. I believe you can eat food too to make it even more efficient. Regarding exploration teams point a to point b characters like Wanderer and Yelan are very good for getting around. Venti’s wind tunnel from his hold skill is also great.

  8. I personally love adding characters to my collection, but it has to be a character I want. I try to strike a balance between characters that are good and characters I personally like. When it comes to five stars my options are a lot more limited because I'm (mostly) f2p, so I don't pull for characters unless I really want them. Unfortunately my favourite five star is Tighnari, who is a standard banner character you can't guarantee getting, and I haven't pulled him once since I started playing in 3.4. Thanks to the Fontaine archon quest I now love Furina, but I can't pull for her (or Baizhu, who I also want) because I'm saving for Albedo. Albedo is a much worse character metawise than either of them, but he's one of my favourite characters, so he takes priority. I did try and do one ten pull for the chance to get Furina, but I didn't get her – I did get Charlotte though, which is cool – and I'm actually fine with that because I forgot to play her trial first and after I did, I realised I didn't really like her playstyle, so I kind of regret that ten pull, even if it did get me Charlotte.

When it comes to team comps I like building a variety of teams, because if I'm stuck in one playstyle for too long I get a bit bored.
My first team was Diluc/Chongyun/Xingqiu/Mika (obviously I didn't have all of these characters to begin with, but before that I was just using whatever I had, not actively building teams I wanted) which then became Heizou/Chongyun/Xingqiu/Mika, and then Kazuha/Chongyun/Xingqiu/Mika. I swap between the 3 dps's whenever I use this team, but it's usually Kazuha. When I became a Kazuha main I eventually named the team "Good Bois Inc."
As one of the few former Mika mains, Mika was actually the first character I ever deliberately pulled for – which is risky because you have no guarantee of getting the 4 star you want, and I didn't want either of the characters whose banner he was on. Thankfully my Genshin luck consistently seems to be ridiculous*, and I got him in my first pull.

After that I tried to start building the team I eventually called "MONSTAZUMA", Heizou/Kaeya/Fischl/Thoma. Named because it's a combination of Mondstadt and Inazuma characters. I later realised that the name doesn't work that well because Kaeya is not from Mondstadt, and Thoma is from Mondstadt but I was counting him as an Inazuma character. I never actually finished building this team, so I've never played with it.

Because my Kazuha pulls were so good, I was able to pull for Alhaitham too, so I decided to build an aggravate team, which would have been Alhaitham/Fischl/Aether (Dendro)/Shinobu. I called it "Aggravating" for obvious reasons. It takes a while to build characters though, and I still haven't gotten around to building Aether, and Shinobu is one of the characters I'm currently building. So instead this became a hyperbloom team of Alhaitham/Fischl/Xingqiu/Mika (Mika because he's currently the only healer I have properly built). This was supposed to be temporary, but it's incredibly fun, so I might leave it as it is. The name probably needs to change, but it still sort of works, because all of these characters can be considered annoying for one reason or another.

I played switching between my hyperbloom team and my Kazuha Good Bois team for ages until Freminet was officially announced and I realised I was obsessed with him. So I built a physical team, because that's where Freminet excels. Freminet/Fischl/Xingqiu/Mika – I called this team "LetsGetPhysical" because I'm very creative. This is easily my most powerful team, and Freminet does, for my standards, absolutely insane damage. It's also the team I have the most fun with.

Unfortunately, Freminet was never going to be my main for very long, because literally the patch after his release, Wriothesley was released. And I love Freminet, but Wriothesley is the hottest man in Genshin and I knew from the moment I saw him that he'd be my main. So for him, I built a freeze team – Wriothesley/Xingqiu/Kazuha/Mika. I called it "Frostfall" because I couldn't think of anything else. This team also decimates everything in its path, because nothing has the chance to attack me because they're always frozen. I might replace Mika with Charlotte, because from what I can tell, she would synergise really well with this team. But I could be wrong about that, so I'll look into guides. Also I love Mika and am mostly ambivalent about Charlotte, so I don't know whether I want to replace him.

I'm currently building two more teams. My Childe team, currently called "Snezhnayan Hello" (because Snezhnayan Greeting is too long for the box), is Childe/Fischl/Thoma/Bennett. I'm already able to use this team to some effectiveness, which is absolutely absurd because Thoma and Bennett both have no artifacts.
And I'm also building a geo team, imaginatively titled "We Will Rock You", currently only consisting of Gorou and Zhongli. It was originally supposed to be Itto/Albedo/Gorou/Zhongli, but I kind of want to make Albedo the on-field dps if possible, and I might replace Zhongli with a leaked character, if he actually ends up becoming a reality and the leaks about his kit are true (though I'd also love it if he could be a main dps so my lineup could be [Leaked]/Albedo/Gorou/Zhongli.) I originally started building this team because there was an event where for one level the trial characters were Itto/Albedo/Gorou/Shinobu. I had pretty much written off geo as an element until then, but it turns out that mono geo is an incredibly fun and incredibly strong team, so I ended up wanting to build one myself.

*For a rundown of my Genshin luck:
I pulled Diluc on the beginner banner, and he carried me through the early game.
On my first ever standard banner pull, I pulled Heizou, Fischl and Gorou. Pulling three 4 stars at once is very rare, and Heizou and Fischl are really good. (And Gorou is essential for a geo team).
I pulled Mika on my first ten pull on his release banner (which was Ayaka/Shenhe), and I was pulling for him.
On Kazuha/Alhaitham's banner, I got Kazuha early, still had loads of primos left over, pulled for Alhaitham and got him early as well. Both on 50/50.
I was pulling for Freminet on Zhongli/Childe's banner. I didn't want the 5 stars because I was saving for Wriothesley. At first it seemed I wasn't having good luck, and I actually pulled Zhongli before Freminet at 60 pity on the 50/50. I moved to Childe's banner to keep pulling for Freminet. On my first pull on Childe's banner, I got Freminet, and then in the same pull lost my next 50/50 to Keqing. I still had 40k primogems left over, which meant I had a guarantee for my next 5 star to be the banner character, and I figured I could make up the primogems before Wriothesley came out, because he was in the second half of the month, so I used my guarantee to pull for Childe. I got him within like 30 wishes, meaning I didn't even have to farm any more primogems to get Wriothesley.
Ironically, the one time I have had bad luck was on Wriothesley's banner. I had to go all the way to the full 180 wishes to get him. I did get my Chongyun to C6 and Thoma to C5 in the process though, so it wasn't too bad.

Wow, sorry for the essay. I did not mean to write that much.

  9. Sadly you can’t stack passives. It’s a bummer but there are passives you can combine.
So let’s say I wanted to make a team for exploration.

I would use Yelan Dehya Sayu and Wanderer. Why?

Because Yelan and Sayu E (elemental skill) make you move slightly fast and far without stamina.

They also gain a boost from Dehya daytime SPD passive. And because there are 2 anemo characters in the party you get the automatic elemental team bonus of a boost in movement speed that only is obtained when there are 2 anemo characters.

Plus Wanderer E (elemental skill) is broken. It’s short duration but he’s the king of exploration currently

  10. It has been a great time watching these Collected Miscellany videos with you again! Collection!

The only problem I personally have with Nilou is that she is super restrictive and niche. But whatever she does in her niche, she is absolutely the best in it. Her teams have a low floor but a high ceiling. Definitely not my cup of coffee. Sure you can use her in other teams but you are not getting a whole passive of a character you pulled for.

So the way you defeat Wanderer: throw a stone at him while he's flying. Literally. He just falls down. No joke. This is why using a shielder along with him is usually recommended. Otherwise, it's just fall down fest.

Ok, so I just realized that Faruzan's ponytails randomly get raised when she's trying to shoot a charged shot. How do they work? Why do they work like that?

Dehya is definitely a character of all time. In theory, her kit is really unique and well designed but in practice, she has really low talent multipliers and is one of not really good characters. She is supposed to be a tank but for the type of game Genshin is, tanks don't have a staple place in the game's meta.

Poor Mika. He was marketed as a dedicated physical (Eula) support, he is only good in her teams when you get 6 copies of him and even then he's only good by ~2 or 3%. All other supports in the game are just better for Eula.

No, the stamina reduction abilities don't stack with themselves. For example, you can stack Xiao's, Kazuha's, and Amber's passives for stamina reduction during climbing, sprinting, and gliding respectively, but you can't stack Candace's and Xiao's which both reduce climbing stamina.

All 4 stars that were released during the game launch in 1.0, didn't get a collected miscellany for some reason. (Xingqiu where Hoyo?)

Neuvillete is just Master Roshi. He is super old and uses Kamehameha to fight.

Rizzley is such a visually cool character. There is 1 problem with his gameplay though, he consumes his HP very fast while fighting, and to get it back, his special charged attack has a non-s synergistic cooldown for it to match with his HP drain. And on top of that, he NEEDs to be higher than 50% HP but lower than 60% HP for the special charged attack to activate. Like how are you going to stay between the HP threshold when your attacks drain your HP so fast that you are never above 50% HP without a healer which is slow but also heals in big bursts?

Also why does Dain say that his next NORMAL attack is enhanced to a Gracious Rebuke in the video? Its actually his CHARGED attack that is enhanced to Gracious Rebuke. I think it was a script error or something.

  12. good and bad news around Dehya…
To say she got nerf would be unfair on the dev, since its a change during beta test.
people basically watch leak stuff and get angry when its not what they saw upon release.
Yet it is true that her skill does not work well with others or even with herself. I will not deny that.

Unfortunately she need lots of resource to make her powerful.
[the same amount of resource will make some 4 star character even stronger]

Good news is Dehya play around losing and gaining HP, which is a core mechanics of Fontaine character.
Currently at 4.2 Furina make Dehya stronger than ever [if you want to play her of cause]
I myself find Dehya still fun to play despite her weird design.
Very unique character, not free to play friendly, but enjoyable in some scenario.

In term of characteristic and personality design, Superb/ Excellent

  13. For Wanderer yes and no. You can't aim his attacks so if you manually fly too high or terrain elevates you too high you will be out of reach for your attacks to hit enemies, but enemies long range attacks can still hit you. If you are on level ground and maintain default height than you are both equally in combat range of each other. He can actually be very easy to get knocked out of flight. He is however very quick in movement and his kit will encourage dashing to unleash extra attack damage. His flight is mainly busted in exploration of the open world. I think they balanced him out very well in this regard.

Faruzan is to Wanderer and Xiao what Gorou is to Itto. Very specialized support, but also very enjoyable to play, speaking for myself. I really love her design.

Alhaitham is me for real for real. I wasn't originally going to pull for him, but when it became obvious we were essentially the same person personality wise I couldn't resist him and have actually fallen hard for him. If only I could pull of wearing chonky noise cancelling headphones 24/7 to block out the noise of people around me while having my nose stuck in a book too. Maybe his bird/feather motif in his sash & cloak subconsciously screamed "Anemo" to you? Same for Kaveh.

Dehya was done so dirty. I think they tried a "Jack of all trades, master of none" approach for her, but her kit's so spread out that she's not good at any one aspect of it. Plus her burst is completely automatic in its attack animations that you are locked into, you can't dodge/sprint or jump while in it or it will cancel prematurely. Likewise if she's attacked while in her burst her burst animations don't have damage immunity so she can get immediately staggered out of it. She's  a mess and I really wish that they would've made her another exception like Zhongli and reworked her kit after release. I really can't help but wonder what kind of feedback beta testers gave them on her to think she was in a state to be released. It's such a shame too, her character design and her character in the story are so great.
She's a standard five star, so you have a shot at getting her on the standard banner as well as on any featured five star banner as a 50/50 loss. I have seen some hyper invested Dehya's that can put out some decent damage. Regardless my moto's always been, if you like a character play them. Even if they're not the best to use, if you enjoy their playstyle and they make you happy go for.

Were you spoiled for Baizhu? If you were spoiled for Baizhu that makes me unbelievably sad.

Lyney is incredibly fun to play. I don't think I have ever fallen so hard and fast for a character's playstyle after trying their trial run. I was initially skeptical because I'm not too keen on most bow users (find them to feel too slow), but there's something about him that makes him feel very fast to me. He feels more mobile than any other "true" bow user to me and the mechanic of managing his sacrificed heath is fun? Plus his animations have such a dramatic and showy flare to them. Truly a showman in all things. Playing him just makes me happy, like a kid watching a magic show, as stupid as that sounds.

Neuvillette is a weird one for me. I'm still not sure how much I enjoy his playstyle. It's like I do, but in a kind of mindless sort of way? He just kind of stands there as you straff him. He's very… visually unappealing to me to play? Maybe visually uninteresting would be better term? He's just weird.

I'm usually not much one for brawler type characters but Wriothesley I think can be very fun. I haven't had a chance outside of his story quest to really try him out since I don't have a good artifact set for him yet, but I am looking forward to when I can.

Interesting enough the only characters (I'm pretty sure) that don't have the default xxx weapon charge attack are all none humans. The Archons. Xiao. And Neuvillette.

Claymore's also have one of either two standard charge attack animations, there's the one Diluc has for example that does a series of forward slashes and then there's the one like Kaveh, were the attack just spins around and around.
