If You Played These 10 Horror Games, You're An Adult Now

The industry of horror gaming has probably reached an unprecedented level of popularity in the last ten years, and it’s mainly due to the rise of indie developers and the category of first-person psychological horror games, which was heavily influenced by the cancellation of Silent Hills. However, don’t let this development make you forget that horror gaming in the early 2000s was also a big part of the conversation, and some of the titles that were released at that time were actually the essential piece of the puzzle that laid the foundation for many of the amazing horror experiences you’re playing today. Anyway, in today’s video, I decided to take a deep dive into the past and remind you of 10 incredible horror games that gave us some of the best gaming memories, and some of them even made us more hooked on the genre.

  1. oof fatal frame
I remember I used to invite classmates to my house to study but in the end I forced them to play fatal frame with me because I was too scared to do it alone hahahaha
It was the same with Yu-on, although its not a game as old as these other titles but it still scared the shid outta me

  2. Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Director's Cut for the OG Xbox was my shit back in the day. Fatal Frame in FPV was epic! I wish the latter games had that setting. Imagine Maiden of the Dark Water in FPV.

  3. Fatale Frame/Project Zero are in my opinion one of the best examples of how a horror game has to be. And Crimson Butterfly is great and deserves to be the best example of the Series. But, and this is my opinion, That I think Tormented and after my first real playthrough of Mask of the lunar eclipse that these 2 are a tiny bit better. And after Maiden of the black water and Mask of the Lunar eclipse got a Remake/Remaster I hope the other 3 Games get one too. Especially since I can play it with my girlfriend who never played the games herself or seen videos/Let's plays of them.

  4. Silent hill 4 was my introductory to the silent Hill franchise, and horror games in general. I played it back when I was 14 on my PlayStation two. I was so scared of it I had to stop playing for a little while. But the game was great. I loved the atmosphere. I love the characters. I love the story I especially love the music. So it was rather disheartening when I found out that it was the least liked of the franchise. It deserves a lot more credit than it was given.

  5. Some games i never heard about and now that i have im so excited lol some still look good to this day. My favorite one so far on the list is fatal frame crimson butterfly which i actually played. Also love siren the shibito ( dead person or corpse person) are like zombies except show intelligence and never stay dead either

  6. I wish you put the original Siren on the PS2 instead of Blood Curse. I haven't played Blood Curse, but the original was just so good even though it was crazy hard too. I had to follow video walkthroughs to get through it. I've played most of the other games on this list though and loved them all.

  9. Epic video bro, the memories from those years! Penumbra, Silent Hill 4 and Condemned. My teenage self had awesome horror taste😅 Sad to see how gaming is just nice graphics and money grabbing but no stories at all. No fun.

  10. I was an adult when all of these were released. It's always interesting to me to hear the perspectives of past horror games from younger players. Kuon wasn't successful in the US, and it didn't sell well. The reviews of the game were mixed then and leaning toward unfavorable. I do think it would have sold better had the interest in Japanese horror not been waning. My hope is we'll see a revival and the title will eventually be remade.

ObsCure was released later in North America due to a few changes to the game. The North American release has a richer ambient soundtrack than the European release did, and there are a few, minor added cutscenes in the NA release. Years later it would be re-released on Steam, so I think people who missed out on ObScure can still find it there. It another one that received mixed reviews, though the co-op mode was praised as I recall. Anyway, after that rather lengthy comment, good video!
