i’ve experienced both tornadoes and hurricanes as someone who lives in southern louisiana. tornadoes are initially scarier but the fear is minutes compared to hurricanes that cause fear for days. the flooding is more detrimental in most parts of where i live than the winds are. in 2021 hurricane Ida nearly lifted my house off the foundation and ripped my fiancés awning off. he had a 16ft trampoline in his yard. entire buildings were crumbled in his area. more houses were extremely flooded to the extent many of them are still not fixed today. most people lifted their foundations several feet off the ground. hurricanes are much worse.
