"I Woke Up And Planned My Suicide" – Ex RAF Crew Recounts Struggle After Being Medically Discharged

Mike Graham is joined by former RAF Chinook crew member Liz McConaghy to speak on The Veteran’s Voice.

Liz was the longest-serving female crewman on the RAF Chinook fleet, she undertook two deployments to Iraq and 10 to Helmand and Afghanistan.

She emotionally recounts her struggle of “putting her life back together” after she was medically discharged from the RAF and became heavily depressed following the major life change.

“I woke up one morning and decided it was going to be my last day on Earth… I had stored up 10 years of tears, it all had to come out.”
