Elden Ring is not a bad game at all, but something about it just isn’t clicking for me on Elden Ring for PS5. Let’s talk.

I recorded this directly from the PS5 and holy hell does this look terrible. lol. Oh well.
I wanted to love this game but I absolutely hate dark souls style combat.
The thing about from software games, is that story is a big thing, but isn't told directly. A lot of lore is hinted at and not told straight out, and watching videos from channels such as Vaatividya. Even smaller stories aren't really told straightout and you'll have to look around and just think about what happen. This make for fantastic head cannon and imagination too take root.
I can say I totally agree with you.. if the game is not properly calibrated to be progressively challenging it does kill the experience. You can just throw a random AI difficulty where is all over the place. Also I love going against the grain. There problem is that people hate to admit when they threw their money away on a game that could of been better. Looking at the game, the open aspect of it does seem a bit empty. There isn't much going on as far as that fast pace action, exploration, and story. This is how I actually also felt about the new Doom game. Awesome graphics, but the levels felt empty. I ended up deleting the game. That's how bored I got. Idk what the heck is happening to games anymore. They have big levels, but there isn't much happening.
Good on you RGT for being honest and I’d say all your points are valid. I enjoy the souls series but don’t love it yet. I’m reserving judgement to see how I feel about the game once I’m deeper in but so far getting good vibes from exploring the world.
get gud scrub
what did you try to love? its literally a copy paste of every souls game, did you ever play a souls game?
Story in souls games are cryptic and told through item descriptions. Not for everyone, sure, but it wouldn’t be a souls game if the story was in your face.
Honestly it just sounds like souls games aren’t for you, and that’s ok. You aren’t going to change any souls fans opinions of this game because as a souls fan it’s a near perfect experience
Ya know, I’m kinda confused because you said you played Dark souls and demon souls, so when you say things about the story, or gameplay, I really think you’re expectations were a bit off going into this. Waiting for Elden Ring I was fully aware, and expecting another faithful continuance of the souls game formula. Maybe Sekiro threw you off?
Lol you make it seems like It's a 6.0 game
Lost, misguided, confused, weak, these are all common feelings had when playing these games, and after time you prevail through those feelings. You end up on the other side with a feeling of more wisdom, it’s tough and at first you feel like it’s pointless, but after you have a great sense of satisfaction and gratification. It’s a rewarding feeling, but I’m probably not doing it justice trying to explain in a comment. I’m sure there’s videos about this, these games aren’t for everyone
It's Satanic Breath of the Wild, what's not to love?
Most defensive video opener 2022
Did you just say "orientated"? 😂
RGT…say it with me O-REE-ENT-ED. Love you, bud!
If PS has no frame issues thrn, only plahy t on PS do not buy it for Xbox or PC its actually unplayable
I've tried the Souls games…well, 3 of them. I'm a decent gamer, and I've beaten many games, but these were way too difficult and frustrating. They take a lot of free time to play, and a desire to do things over and over. The difficulty definitely affects my rating.
So what boss killed you repeatedly before you made this video?
For a long time fan of the soul series it's an improvement from the others at the end of the day it's your opinion and alot of us respect that and we can all agree the soul series is not meant for everyone it's mostly targeted at the Fans of the series who have been here since the beginning it's targeted at a specific audience so maybe that's why you don't like it and again that's ok
The PC version is crap. The worst port ever made I'm not talking about performance, it runed fine on 4k… The problem is, player has to fight
controls and camera instead of the enemies… The whole control scheme on PC is garbige made for consoles…
It's like devs don't know what mouse and keyboards even are… you have well over 100 keys on keyboard use them for you systems maybe?? And that Ui can be clickable like what is this crap. For got sake how hard is it to type some proper tooltips that show up when you hover wiht a mouse… It's like someone gave them a Pc without a mouse and keyboard and said make a port for this.
Even with the shity story narative they have and light rpg skills this game could be good if it was actually made for PC mouse and keyboard…but it's just not. What a waste of a good open world.
Compared to any 3D Zelda game, yes Fromsoft games absolutely are "Clunky".
Prime example: any time a boss is weakened enough to reveal a weak point, in a Zelda game the lock-on system locks directly to the weak point, in a Dark Souls game you're left randomly slashing at the boss just hoping to hit the weakspot. Relatively speaking, Fromsoft uses lazy game design. As an isolated experience any given 10 minute segment of Elden Ring plays like a B-Tier action game, but the reason people are so attracted to the series is the variety and volume of the content. It's the antithesis of the modern 5 hour narrative based game.
Elden Ring is the most expansive dungeon crawling playground ever made, it's a staggering amount of content, but it's like eating at the largest and most expansive buffet in the world, you're going to eat tons of food and discover innumerable amazing new things, but it's all going to be coming out of a hot-pot instead of being served fresh from the oven.
I think it's clear that the Dark Souls gameplay loop has finally outlived it's welcome, if you've played one you've played them all and I am thankful I never played a Dark Souls game before last month (just warming up for this launch with some DS3).
Finally, I found one reviewer who has the same opinion as me. I fully agree, and I have much more experience with Bloodborne and DS3. I platinumed both games and full DLCs completion and 800+ hours on PS4 and PC.
It just seems like your saying your bad at the game and wanted them to change the game to be easier so you could play it easier. I don’t think they deceived anyone or mislead anyone on what the game is. They said it was darksouls in open world. I have never played a dark souls game in my life but find it too easy now after grinding for about an hour on a mage character. I’m not sure it’s the best game ever but definitely best open world I have played before. If you want a fast paced game assassins creed is your cup of tea it’s open world and easy… also why is it all ponies saying game isn’t great go play horizon. Which I have platinum and is a fun game but no way I would say it’s better than elden ring
Liar 🤥 lol Demons souls is harder than Sekiro?!? 😂 I doubt you’ve played Sekiro…Demons souls is by far the easiest in the souls series. 6-7 hours in??? that’s like judging a movie as it says “paramount” before the movie even starts. That’s how much their is to discover in this game. Just because you’re not good at these games doesn’t mean you need to make a video about how much you suck at them.
Mad cos bad. Don't run around R1 spamming and it won't just "feel like every other From Soft game".
Agreed to many crybaby’s in the USA that’s why Russia is pushing everyone around
Demons souls is literally the easiest
I think the first problem you might be having is that you are still early in the game's starting zone and expected exciting content to be delivered up front and haven't seen what you hoped for yet. That's just not how these games work. I can respect your opinion and feelings but it's hard for me to relate to. I've been having so much fun exploring, searching, discovering, experimenting, strategizing, cooperating, overcoming challenges and just taking in the atmosphere. In my first few hours playing I was teleported twice by trapped chests to the opposite sides of the world. The other areas of the game are so different, terrifying, and beautiful. You should really see those places. Have you gone to any of the gigantic castles? They are insane. The super deep underground area? The other dimension where npc's gather? All of them have their own story and quest lines. It's not tracked in a journal. The best experience is just stumbling upon all this stuff while adventuring. The other problem you are having is not understanding how From Software progresses their games series. They always take an established idea and iterate on core gameplay mechanics, adding new things but keeping the style and feel similar. This game is another evolution of the demon's souls idea, they have refined and tuned it well. You're idea of clunky is not my idea of clunky. But I get it. These games are not like other action games. Other action games let you cancel your attack animations easily and don't punish button mashing. These games have an input buffering system and physics that can seem weird. Like hitting a wall with your weapon makes you deflect off of it, stuns you and opens you up for being attacked. I've never seen any game do that other than From Software Games. I love that kind of thing because it forces you to be mindful of the environment. I understand that would be frustrating if you had never seen that and did not expect that to be a thing.
True
My god does every YouTuber have to make a stupid disclaimer intro due to fear of mass dislikes and negative comments? These people are government school drones who have been taught that feelings = reality. Just state your opinion and move on, god this platform sucks
You want the game to be faster? Then play as a bandit or a thief with hardly any armor and daggers. Then you will be fast. Comparing this game to skyrim is horseshit lol. They are two completely different games. Skyrim had a trash story by the way and has the worst main line quests and guilds in all of elder scrolls. And to say this game has no story…..while you've only sunk like 6 hours into the game 🤣🤣🤣 idk man. This game has so much lore and the NPCs are hidden and have awesome stories to tell. And the story is told through discovery and the environments and the bosses and areas you clear out. Kinda think that you going off on journalist and people that like this game at the end of your video is kinda douchey as well. Miyazaki is one of the last great developers out there nowadays. Yes, the pc is broken. And I feel for the pc crowd. But when this game is firing off on all cylinders it's a triumph in the gaming medium as a whole. Thats just my two cents. Just sounds like you dont like the game man. Not every game is for every person.
I feel you man. I was hoping that this would be different. I was hoping for combat fluidity.
You play a game for 6 hours and say you dont see the story that the open world gives. Yeah bud keep that to yourself you haven't played enough

6 or 7 hours? Rofl…..
