I Took a LUXURY CRUISE in The CHEAPEST Cabin

With most mainstream cruise lines it’s pretty common for a cruise ship to have at least a third of its cabins inside in the ship without any windows. That can often mean thousands of inside cabins on the big ships but I’ve just disembarked a luxury cruise ship where I had 1 of only 23 inside cabins on the entire ship.

I’ve been cruising with budget and mainstream cruise lines for years and I’m very used to cruising in the cheapest cabin on the ship. I do everything I can to reduce the cost and I’ve had some interesting cabins are a result.

Most luxury cruise ships don’t have inside cabins at all so when I saw an inside cabin available on the luxury cruise ship Azamara onward. I decided to book it.

  1. I always keep the room tidy ish. Mostly because I don’t like people touching or moving my stuff and not because I’m excessively neat. I’m not a neat person by nature but I do appreciate the effort and know that it isn’t my job to make the stewards job harder.

  2. Hi Emma, we were on the Onward earlier this year, about to board the Quest in Dubai later today as we enjoyed Azamara so much. We had heard about the shower curtain so took magnets to hold it in place. Can verify it works! Keep up the good work, love your channel x

  3. This is too funny. I was cruising on NCL at the same time and I brought a tape measure and couldn't remember why and was baffled at my packing. It was to check the dimensions of my luggage for the airline but i totally forgot.

  4. We cruised the Onward in Sept. Everything was wonderful..loved the small intimate surroundings…loved the attention one gets because they remember you… we had a seaview cabin very nice…ok bathroom was small but efficient…I mean my husband is 200lb and had no problem whatsoever taking a shower….!Did not notice any broken things! We would love to take another cruise with Azamara…budget permitting!!

  5. I was on the Azamara Pursuit in May and also read before that everybody was complaining about the showers. Although I am substainally "more" than you Emma, I never had a problem with the shower curtain or flooded the bath. Maybe my childhood with showering in a bathtub has trained my technic for mini showers.

  6. I vote that measuring things in unconventional units become a thing, Micarah Tewers style (she and her channel are very different from you and your channel) but I think you could make it your own. You have a beautifully subtle sense of humor.

  8. Hee hee, All the regular cabins on all those ships have small showers with curtains that stick to you. Its a runnng joke but its a fondness joke in a way. The showers function quite well, you just have to figure out how to make them behave. I tend to wet the bottom of the curtain, then stick them to the side of the little wall. I then kind of step down on them to pull them tight and voila lots of room. We went on a 21 day btb 14 day cruise in cabin 7048 around South America December 2018 on the Azamara Pursuit! Its first trip around. We loved it!

  9. In the usa, at hotels, if we leave lots of trash, or towels, or don’t have time to clean up before leaving for the last time, we will leave a tip for the maids depending on the size of the room and how cluttered the room, but usually around $20.

  10. I love watching other people enjoying life. It means I don't have to. It's almost like I'm experiencing life vicariously and I'm fine with that… who needs a life, when you're appeased by the tube!

  11. The problem with many of these cruise ships that they are older and refurbished. As you say it is very difficult to change once built, public rooms are easier, cabin layouts look to be almost impossible, soft furnishings less so. We were on Sky Princess a month or so ago, a brand new ship but even so some of the drawers were flimsy. You have to go with the flow and just enjoy the cruise.

  12. I can help you with the measuring with items on hand. My Mom the math teacher taught me that a US paper dollar is 6.14 inches long. Not as accurate as a ruler or a toothpaste tube , but I've used it in a pinch. 😊

  13. If you have an iPhone Apple did release a measuring app which can be a bit wonky but overall pretty effective — that isn’t to say I didn’t enjoy seeing the toothpaste measuring process XD
