Consider making a horde base – purpose build hideout for blood moon nights. They are not so clever, they just go the easiest way right to you. You can use it to your advantage, dodgy jumps, robotic sledges, traps etc… I have a floating one attached to traders fence, stupid things just punch the invincible fence and I farm XP from the safety of the top. Few spikes on a top for vultures and sorted.
yes they can definitely break the whole building down always look for concrete or cobblestone walls if your going to use a POI's Roof for horde. Keep an eye out for a Rad Remover Mod to put on your favorite weapon so you can stop the health regen the green zombies(irradiated) have.
