‘Destiny 2: The Final Shape’ promises to be the winner-takes-all conclusion to a 10 year saga. After having spent two days playing it, I’m confident that some of its aspects (namely The Pale Heart, the new Prismatic subclass and the new exotics I got to try) will absolutely deliver what fans are hoping for. Other aspects such as story and mission design are still unknown quantities as you really need to experience these things in totality before judging them. For me, though, I’m rather pre-occupied with an unanswerable question: what comes next?
Note: I was invited by Bungie to this event. They offered to cover my flights and accommodation expenses but I declined, paying my own way so as to ensure truly independent coverage.

Light fall really killed a lot of my love of Destiny. I'm really hoping this expansion has a better story than Lightfall.
Said it for a long time now.
The game needs a single player catch up mode that allows you to play all content on your own up to the most recent/relevant content that requires groups.
As you play the content adjusts and locks off like it did for each expansion/update.
Bungie could easily release a single player version of this game now covering all story from Destiny through to the end of Destiny 2
Wait we still have power levels? I thought they were removing those
I never cared for the story. Just here for the gameplay.
They spent so much time on this dlc and is not even that good
Played Destiny 1+2 up to witch queen. When final shape comes its 2 expansions ago that i last played. Does the game still feel like it has almost 0 content? Reason i stoped was it feelt like to little things to do in endgame
The only reason I play is for trials but I have a feeling prismatic will finally let me stop
This game is proof that old BUNGIE died long ago.
It lacks a ton of basic features for MMOs, the content is scarce and really boring. If you play with a friend can be bearable though. And the F2P experience is miserable.
All the bad stuff I heard for years about this game which I thought was pure exaggeration came out as true. Really sad.
"Game feels too easy," Says while being carried by a streamer, using top-of-the-shelf raid weapons that most players will not have. But yeah, power creep…
21:30 Buildcrafting in this game sucks beyond belief because BUNGO in a very cowardly way lets players in the dark. Not a single damn tooltip will tell you values about anything. How much bonus damage does this perk give me? How much ability regen do I get? Mystery. So, yeah, wow, so much better now with Prismatic.
Smells like copium
Should've been Austin doing this one.
Don’t worry they will sunset/vault everything in this expansion and bring it back and call it new a few months after it comes out.
I never play the stories so dope
Btw everyone knows their dropping destiny for marathon since destiny isn’t making them money anymore.
26:20 They can start by keeping thier game together and stop vaulting content. Bring these stories back, bring the planets back. Bungie is not helping me the long time player of this game, convince others to play when half the main story is not there for them to enjoy and give them the reason why I enjoy it so much. If this is infact the last one then so be it, but if not, then Bungie needs to help me, help them.
Oh man, I wish the patrol space wasn't instanced for a fireteam. I wish they leaned more into the social aspects and lite mmo aspects. It's not that big of a deal, though. We still have our old patrol spaces.
Been clean off D2 for more than 5 months, never been happier with playing games now. This looks like more of the same shit.
It looks disappointing. Like others have said already, new players cannot even play the old content and get caught up in the story. Content we paid for, I'm done with Destiny and have been since light fall season 1. But I love your review Skill Up, one of the few unbiased opinions you can find.
Yup, that's destiny
Wat is that gun at 11:00 with 3 blue shards next to the sight
the problem with this review is, you cant trust a review to be honest when someone is close enough to the company to get invited to the studio, bungie is well known to ghost creators who are truthfully heavily critical of the game; this creators connection to bungie implies that he hasnt called them out for the very serious issues related to destiny in its current form and as a franchise in regards to current and past gameplay, story, monetary issues as well as the future of the game being bleak with the admitting after final shape the Dev team will drastically decrease.
For me the Destiny narrative has gone so far off the reservation that I lost interest long ago. They had to pack so much junk in there to continue selling quarterly DLC that the whole thing has just become convoluted. Plus, I never forgave them for killing Cayde-6 and reinventing his killer. I guess I'll just skip this DLC too and close my Destiny gameplay chapter for good.
Fine.. I’ll redownload destiny 2 for the 3rd year in a row
The non stop CCs from enemies is where I checked out. No thanks. That's the opposite of fun.
honestly, I think the game was on life support a long time ago. I quit after the witch queen, best decicion of my life. I hope people who still playing will at least have a good conclusion for the game story at least.
Oh, Bungo…
Oh, nice….. Played this mission and my campaign bugged? Didn't get ths subclass? Lmfao
Only noticed because I asked my friends "When exactly do we get this subclass" to their amazement/amusement I did not already have the subclass….
This is dreadful stuff, I haven’t experienced these buggy launches since cyberpunk 2077, is there just no beta testing at all, and where’s the damn story!
I'm not paying £80 for another dlc. I stopped playing when they started removing dlc content i had paid for
Coming back to this game after a couple of years away makes me feel like being a kid in the 90s reading X-Men comics again, trying to make sense of a bunch of story events that I missed, and have no way of accessing to experience them for context.
Last I saw, Uldren Sov was a (dead) villain who had murdered Cayde, but I guess he’s alive again, and a good guy working for the Vanguard
There’s factions of Cabal and Fallen hanging out in the Last City now. Those sure would have been some neat moments to experience, and maybe big events like those should have been in actual expansion storylines, instead of tucked away in missable seasonal content.
Oh, and Cayde’s alive again, I guess.
i love prismatic. strand giant even come close in comparison imo
The opening events and cut scenes remind me of the red war when the reset d1 to d2.
Spoiler alert: even when playing solo legendary, the entire campaign is an absolute fucking joke in terms of difficulty. The only thing that's even remotely difficult is the fact that you're forced to play prismatic with incomplete build crafting options making it absolute and utter dogshit (atleast on titan) compared to your normal build. And even then, it was a pushover.
Imma have to get it to max out power level to end game content . But imo bungie should just release everything free before final shape and lower the price to 20 bucks . It wil go on sale , but alot of people dont even have shadowkeep .
Dang, if only they came out with the Dredge at launch of Destiny 2…
happy to report that final shape came out and it indeed slaps hard
