  1. I'm not a fan of General MacArthur. I think his "defense" of the Philippines was haphazard. His commitment to "return" to the Philippines was unnecessary to the victory over Japan and resulted in even more suffering for the people of the Philippines. Any flag officer who carries around a PR staff of 200 should be regarded with suspicion. As I said, I'm not a fan.
    ..and don't get me started on his cover.
