I regret my purchase… – MSI MEG 342C

Thanks to Secretlab for sponsoring today’s video! Check them out at https://lmg.gg/secretlab

Plouffe loves his Alienware AW3423DW monitor. It’s got a high refresh rate, QD-OLED panel, nicely curved screen, and a great design… but now there’s competition! MSI’s new MEG 342C has a tasteful black and gold colour scheme, a nice touch of RGB, and a high-powered USB-C port while still maintaining the excellent QD-OLED panel the Alienware does. Is Plouffe’s favourite monitor about to change?

  1. The Dell curved 34 incher I have here is rather heavy and tends to kinda sag my desk down. I wonder how substantial the weight is on these newer models. Considering getting an upgrade at some point but I don't want to worry about my desk bowing as I hang it on a desk-mounted arm.

  2. Can you please start actually testing and showing the built-in KVM features of monitors like this in the future? I love that they have them, but I want to know exactly how they work, if there are any trade-offs or compromises, and if its actually genuinely useful as a combination gaming/home office monitor.

  3. I don't know whether your color grading on the video is off (I doubt it), or my monitor's colors are all out of whack, but to me that color is definitely brass – not gold.

  4. "Just get it " ? Terrible advice despite the fact what's coming next year .
I'll wait and get the one with variable resolutions @240hz 1440p and 480hz 1080p

  5. Seeing this and currently planning my next build to be in a Fractal North with the copper/gold accents. I feel this might be a must buy just to make the setup look sharp. Damn.

  6. Its insane how much more expensive this monitor is in Europe… 1499 MSRP is crazy with other monitor brands being 200-300 euros lower. Its still an amazing looking monitor!

  7. There's a mod to fix the black bars in RE4. There's also a mod to fix the shimmering crappy image quality using DLSS/DLAA.
    They're the same mod even!

  8. I've tried to not go 100% into any brand because they all make mistakes, but I've gotten so lucky with all the MSI stuff I've bought. Definitely not a perfect company but I think I will definitely be getting this monitor if possible.

  9. 16:43 ahaha once again, LTT lets it slip and admits why HDR is trash and useless for gaming. Shadows are pitch black where you can't see anything and like he mentioned here the HDR 1000+ nits of peak brightness make the bright sections of the game so bright that your eyes hurt.
