I have decided to quit my job at Disney World and have left my Disney College Program early. There has been a lot happening behind the scenes in the way of my job at Disney and how things were handled and frankly not handled.
In this video I finally get to share the truth about my Disney College Program experience and what ultimately lead me to make the decision the quit and pursue other opportunities.

I personally feel as if after COVID lots of companies have lost their spark. It’s sad but I realized that with many companies trying to recover from a global crisis and social issues it’s hard and it’s so unfortunate. But everyone has different experiences 🥺
We have very similar backgrounds! I did Spring 2017 DCP and started as house person at Port Orleans FQ. I was trained only to be moved to housekeeper at Port Orleans Riverside 2 weeks later. 3 weeks later I was moved to AKL to be trained in both Kidani DVC Villas and at Jambo House! So many memories coming back after watching this video! For sure this is the most difficult DCP positions available. I did not term but it was a rough few months working!
I quit too in March, and the horrible culture is why. I moved out of housekeeping and it got better but not enough to stay.

I worked for the mouse in two stints spanning between 2011-2020, starting with the College Program. I left for good literally weeks before the pandemic started and got to see a lot of the decline and switch to profits over people up close and personal.
With time, and therapy, I can recognize that working for the company was the single most emotionally abusive experience I've ever gone through. I STILL remember the time I got a negative paycheck after I got sick and actually had some coworkers (who were some of my favorite people ever) pool together to get me groceries so I could at least eat until the next payday. My only regret is that I didn't realize how horrifying an experience it was on the employer level sooner – and I am SO proud of and for you that you figured out what it took me years and multiple hard lessons to finally internalize.
The problems aren't new, FWIW – and like most in the comments note, started in the last year's of Eisner's tenure during his constant fights with the board after the post-9/11 tourism crash. That (and the work lean/abuse the underlings mentality) stayed under Iger (and subsequent Parks bosses), and got even worse now under Chapek.
I have neuromuscular mild scoliosis and stenosis I can't get surgery neither. But the thing is it's not being observed properly. Heavy things can barely go up to my knees to carry. I have chronic back and hip pain. I'm sorry that this has happened like it did

I am done with pedo Disney. I have supported Disney and looked a way at all of the sexual imagery, chalking it up to a few sneaky, snarky artist. However, after hearing high up Disney officials admit to having an “ agenda “ and the huge amount of Disney employees that got caught in a Florida pedo sting. Also I am not with the “wokeness”. Go woke go broke…. By Disney you won’t catch me at Disney Parks or in the movies. I don’t care if people are gay but we don’t need to put same sex kisses or couples in cartoons.

It's astonishing Disney has any employees and park visitors based on others' experiences, yours included. I have a friend who is so incredibly infatuated with the company brand that daily he years to be back in the WDW parks. My first two visits to the Magic Kingdom in the late 1970s were positive and "magical". My third and last in the mid 1990s less so because of lack of upkeep (cracks here and there, faded paint, chipped parts needing repair or replacement, etc.). By today's Disney standards, my last time at the parks was Shangri-La. That aforementioned friend worked at the Magic Kingdom as a Jungle Cruise skipper. From what you've said about the company today, he probably would have had a less joyful experience dealing with the company today in the same job. Still, the Disney brand is strong and I'm afraid the parks could go the way of Dickensian workshops and people would still be flocking to them.
I don't understand what the company's endgame is.

I'm A Former CM At Disneyland Resort! Westside Attractions. Jungle, Indy, Pirates, Thunder, Mansion And Splash! I Left Because Of All The BS From Them! Two-Faced Non-Appreciative Company! Period!
Why, just why? It’s not a college program, what level of BS is this, any way? At least in the real world, when you apply for a position, you know what that position is, because the employer is not a dick and gives made up names for terrible jobs, they tell you what the position entails, because when the it is advertised , you are given the details in full. There is no three choices crap, the job is as stated upfront. All this different language, is a load of crap, who would want to work for anyone who creates such a terrible environment.

Just looking at their regular job postings and came across the Entertainment Technician job, which, only in PART, entails: "Load and fire pyrotechnics for our nighttime spectaculars". Starting pay? $18/hr. WHAT?! I'm in New England so this is insanely low, but this sounds crazy low even for FL, esp Orlando.
I think just about 1/2 or more of the people who vlog about the DCP quits,, its not really a surprise. It gets to the point where you can predict someone wont be working there long.. If your a full time employee at Disney its great,, or was.. when I lived in Florida my boss was a stunt person for Disney,, he got paid extremely well, got free lunch ,,, and a ton of perks.. they treat the DCP people like crap , their pay is less, hours are usually the worse, and they overcharge for that apartment.. They are going to have to do something different or they will be losing out on all those workers. People will start waking up.

I have a feeling Disney will start firing people who design slightly intense roller coaster, and I think they will force LGBTQ+ on us, and I’m not against LGBTQ+, but I feel like Disney will force it on us so much it gets annoying, maybe they shouldn’t only represent one thing, maybe represent different races, genders, just not force it on everyone too much.

Thank you for being to brave to tell your story! I LOVE Disney, but I feel that working there would ruin the “Magic” for me. I also am from PA! I am an RN and have wondered what a clinical role experience would be like in WDW. If you have any intake on that, I’d love to hear it. I think it’s amazing that you are still able to do something that you love, and have the amazing support of your parents. I think you explained everything in a very professional and tasteful way. I also love that you still enjoy the magic of Disney without letting your work experience ruin it for you.
I miss the Ron Miller era.
The hr department at Disney was decimated during the pandemic and they were stingy about rehiring. There continue to be hr layoffs every few months. I think that’s how some of this stuff happened.
