  1. 10:20 Are you sure it's not that the tribe isn't familiar with the concept of weapons or fighting, but instead not familiar with the unique weapons of the Guild? (Gunlance, Insect Glaive, Switch Axe, Charge Blade, etc..) I could not know anything about monster hunter, be teleported into the game, and have my mind blown as I watch a hunter's axe morph into a sword, discharging explosions.

They would have to know about weapons and hunting — how else would they eat?

  2. The palico has a deodorant bomb!!

Complaining about the story is useless cause "if you're there for the grind" as you put it, then you only do the story once and then its back to the grind

Edit: its not that they don't know what weapons are but you got a dual edged blade with a insect on your arm. Or how about a lance that shoots explosions… you're acting dumb and its Annoying.

They also have to use general language word like "weapon" cause each player will have different weapons we all won't have a sword n shield. Some will have a bow, or a lbg

  3. No long time MH fan is going to stop playing because of the story, trust me. We all know the game starts when the game ends. However, I am looking forward to the story they've cooked up for this entry. I highly doubt it's going to be boring.

  4. 22:00 these two beating around the bush about the devs being ambitious with the story in a mh game yet trying to be as respectful as possible, absolutely agree.

all im gunna say is that we can skip cutscenes so they can do what ever thy want and im a button press away from enjoying the game again.

i think the real issue behind all this really stems from who they want/think is playing this game and all the decisions behind that thought process reveal that vets of the series (vets includes rise babies now) are just expected to play it no matter what they do cause we are hooked on the formula and want more, so they focus on people who never played before and double downed on all the features they think they want in a game.

thankfully its not all doom cause they are making adjustments to weapons based on feedback.

  5. I do not care much for big budget cutscenes in a game series with the main appeal being the great gameplay tbh.

Main thing I'm worried about is the peformance being terrible like DD2 because of the RE engine. Hope it's better than the terrible beta was, on release.

  6. The villagers do have weapons. They have spears and ride Seikret. They even show a guy trying to fend off Balahara with one in one of the trailers. They just don't have giant anime weapons capable of slaying monsters thanks to years of dedicated training to handle a weapon bigger than you are.

  7. I don't get your comments regarding the story being so involved in this game. They added a skip cutscene option iirc so if you're not into it and just wanna hop in, you can always just skip it.

  8. Monster hunter has always wanted to have a good story for the player to progress through as they learn about the game. So I am really glad to see that finally getting fleshed out in a way that the average fan won't go "monster hunter has not story" because that has always been wrong. And like, making the narrative more interesting and fleshed out on the story progression side of things is something I think will only be a strength. Especially since your regular "go here and hunt this thing" quests will still be around, it shouldn't actually matter for people who just care about that side of the game. They can just skip the cutscenes or whatever.
