I had a really fun run doing something vaguely similar as RΓΌgen. Played tall for a very long time and made RP the campaign goal: Taking ideas and gov reforms on the basis that we were "totally legit merchants who are really sorry to hear you are all having problems with pirates and struggling ourselves" Baisically a black market consortium with all the trade related bonus I could get whilst permanently privateering the English Channel

Tip for the next time you play Gotland
if you stay as a monarchy you can use the monarch mission tree and swap over to Pirate republic when your king dies

Interesting you went one province major as Gotland instead of riga, since riga was made to do that whereas Gotland isn't really, still probably interesting!

you should try the diplo annexing strat i did.. i conquered most of india by 1520 with max manpower, no ae, loads of money.. just involves taking everythign diplo you can get.. even better if u do a custom nation with all diplo ideas.. get as many diplomats as possible in all ways, imrpove constantly with everyone.. diplo vassalise 6-11 nations all at the exact same time.. war to only take money and break up bigger nations for later vassalisation.. cos they love it… return cores to non allies which makes them absolutely love you so you can vassalise them.. its much more fun than playing tall and actually a better strat than taking land.. you get very few rebels… your people love you and everyone else loves you too.. yet your empire isnt much smaller than if you had taken land.. and you still get to war so its not as boring as a pacifist run or playing tall run
