‘I Just Started Pulling the Trigger’: Dean Cummings Testifies About Shooting Guillermo Arriola

“I just started pulling the trigger”: Former extreme skier Dean Cummings took the stand Monday and testified about how he shot Guillermo Arriola. Cummings claimed the shooting was in self-defense, alleging that Arriola attacked him. “Dean you’ve got to get serious about this if you’re going to be a father any longer,” Cummings said recalling the moment he decided to shoot Arriola.

  1. If I am fighting a guy with a rifle . . . I'm dropping that canister . . . to get both my hands on that rifle!!! Who fights for his life . . . with one hand on a barrel anyways? And who decides to negotiate the deal of his dreams . . . with someone who is scowling . . . BS

  2. This is the worst self-defense case I've ever seen prosecutors put on.

The prosecution keeps opening the door for more and more damning evidence about Mr. Arriola to be brought in. For example, when the prosecutor was cross-examining a defense witness who was maced by Mr. Arriola, the prosecutor asks 'was this the only time you've seen Mr. Arriola mace someone?" (expecting the witness to answer 'no')… But the witness answers YES lmao.

Prosecution is digging their own grave. Some other great examples: how about when they asked Dean about how often he sees his kids??? So unprofessional and obviously not relevant. THEN, prosecution also brings up the fact that the defendant fact didn't speak to them before the trial … which is his constitutional RIGHT… smh.

I have no idea why this case was ever brought to trial. 0 evidence for the prosecution and A LOT of evidence pointing towards Mr. Arriola being the aggressor. Self-defense cases are usually contentious, but this one is going to be a clear-cut NG verdict.

  3. This Dean Cummings is so brilliant the way he told the story of what happened there's no way they can convict him. He painted a picture that Dean Cummins painted a picture that the other guy came after him and intended to kill him. So Dean Cummins had to do what he had to do for his family and he didn't want to die. So he had to pull the trigger to save his own life. It really makes me think that his story makes a lot of sense whether he's telling the truth or not I believe him.

  4. He says he called him a scammer. Wait……the property owner can set whatever price he wants. Is it possible that Cummings was low-balling the price to an insulting level and THAT started the altercation? Even just from this testimony he indicates that he was being very persistent towards Arriola. Some might call it aggressive in his negotiations. The question is, just HOW aggressive did Cummings get?

  5. "Why did you have the gun out at this incident?"
    "I was adjusting the scope."
……with a 30 round magazine inserted????? Red flags and sirens going off. Nose growing.

  6. Oh yes, shoot at an unarmed man to 'defend' yourself 11 bullets…right self defense. I don't care if someone is fighting you which I doubt happened, you still have no right to KILL. Hope he goes to prison for a long time, too bad he didn't do this in Texas where we have capital punishment. He was in a mental institution for two years after the shooting before he was deemed capable of standing trial, said Mr Arriola put a chip in his brain!!!

  7. Mr. Cummings had moved out of his 5th wheel into Mr. Arriola's private mobile home on the property without permission. Mr. Arriola went to the property to tell him to get out of his trailer and move back into his 5th wheel.

  9. Great witness…Too good? I don't know, but the prosecution is terrible. They make Marcia Clark and Chris Darden look competent. I NEVER thought he'd take the stand, but in my opinion it was a good move. If he's innocent this is an awful story.
