I Hate When Vloggers Do This – Confessions of a Theme Park Worker

You’ll see them at the Disney parks and other theme parks: the vloggers! Most of them are great, but there are a rising number of them that are… well, annoying! And they do things that bother the heck out of me and other theme park employees and Disney cast members…

A behind the scenes look at what a former worker at Disney World, Silver Dollar City, and Busch Gardens Florida experienced in his time working at the parks. From driving large safari trucks around live wild animals while cracking one silly joke after another, to spending 5 years as a #PhotoPass photographer at #WaltDisneyWorld and seeing and experiencing all sorts of things, to being a conductor and #trainrobber on the famous Frisco Silver Dollar Line at #SilverDollarCity. With 10 years of working in the parks, there’s lots of stories to tell. Here is some of them…

Not only did I work in theme parks for 10 years, I’ve visited a whole lot of them as well. Here’s some stories of great visits, not so great visits, favorites, reviews, and much more.

  1. My biggest pet peeve is when the vloggers will actively go out of their way to bother a cast member or even the characters so they can see either break character or get the cast member upset. That just ANNOYS ME because at the end of the day the characters and cast members are doing their jobs. They don't need some obnoxious Tiktoker trying to annoy people for the views or pull dangerous pranks just for the clout. I remember seeing a video in which vloggers from a page were talking out on-stage at Galaxy's Edge and of course the Storm Troopers were in characters doing their thing and they were all like "UGH THIS ALWAYS HAPPENS WHEN WE FILM AT THE PARKS THE CMS INTERRUPT US UGH COME ON!". If their discussion was SO important…WHY DIDN'T THEY FILM AT A PRIVATE ROOM? Don't get upset if s cast member is doing their job and are asking you to move along or clear the way.

Another one that bugs me is when they act like they are celebrities not to be bothered. Some Cast Members are fan of them and I've heard stories of some of them kindly approaching them to say hello and then dismiss them like "YEAH YAH MOVE ALONG BUDDY I HAVE STUFF TO DO AND FILM!". Like come on at best you are a Disney Adult with a small following come on show some respect and put the ADULT after the Disney part.

And disregarding the rules I AGREE SO MUCH..Some vloggers would be trying to put their hands in the water on water rides or trying to lift their legs in a coast and I am like "GUYS YOU WILL HARM PEOPLE IF YOU DO THAT!!".

Great video and I do hope vloggers see it and be mindful. If they claim that CMs should be respected and beloved they should lead by example.

  2. This video has prompted me to share this regarding a very famous attraction at Disneyland…
Yes, it's nice that you're a huge fan of Haunted Mansion & have been on it enough to know the entirety of the Stretching Room spiel… DON'T RECITE IT!! Let's let everyone enjoy it like it's their first time experiencing it." Frankly, it's not as impressive as they think it is.

  3. Screen brightness full is very annoying. Happened when was at the nighttime show at Hogwarts Universals ~ pitch black and the person in front of me has brightness 100%? I don't know how that doesn't blind them, it blinds me.

  4. The things that people don’t realize when they take their phones and cameras on rides is basically 2 things. Number one is that you probably won’t get the device back and it probably will be destroyed beyond use on impact plus most parks will not retrieve it until either after the park closes or the next time maintenance/park officials goes down into the area which might not be often. Number two is that you are legally responsible if that phone hits someone and causes injure or death! Not the park but you as the owner of the device because you made the choice to do it. Therefore I believe it should be a criminal offense if your phone hits someone as it is negligence and something that puts people at risk! No one wants to leave an Amusement Park in handcuffs but I think it’s the only way to protect all park guests and stop people from taking their devices on rides.

  5. Never mind the vloggers, I HATE the people who use their ipads and totally block your view. I had a lady in front of me at a show that totally blocked my view with her ipad. I tapped her on the shoulder to ask her to please put her ipad down so I could see and she just ignored me completely. I was so angry, I totally wanted to slap her up the back of her head. I didn't do it, of course, but I didn't see any of the show that night and it was my last opportunity to see it. PLEASE don't put something that big right in front of someone else and block their view. I had just as much right to see that show as she did and she took that right away from me and then ignored me even though I tried several times to get her attention. Don't be that person, be considerate of those around you.

  6. It seems respect is a thing of the past and arrogance has taken its place. True story when you give park tours and refuse to show ride footage I completely respect your decision then search proper ride footage to fill in the blank. Also my sis has been to silver dollar city multiple times yet never for the Christmas season and I just told her that she really should based of your videos that I've seen

  7. I really dislike TikTok live streamers for that reason. They’re always talking on rides loud enough to not hear the rides well.
That’s why I love ResortTV1 as a streamer. They don’t engage in chats while on rides and shows and follow the rules. The same with PCDev, Tim Tracker, and Justin Scarred as vloggers. You see the love for the parks and their humbleness.
I thought about being a vlogger too, and they were the ones who I look to in filming etiquette.

  8. Nice Video! As a cast member and future YouTuber, I respect this conversation. Many guests block walkways on a regular day.

Recently, tick tockers have been rude and in the way at Cast Connections. Working in the Emporium a camera was forced in my face. I was very uncomfortable. As a guest recently, cast member mode kicked in during a conversation with another guest. I didn’t see the camera immediately, but they politely asked if I would say hello and the tip I mentioned. I agreed to share the recommendation while adding that if I was working there would be no time to pop on camera.

I wish vloggers and people in general would be respectful to cast members.

  10. Thnx for a super awesome and informative vid! Having not been to the parks in some time, i can't imagine what they're like now that everyone fancies themselves a roving reporter or some kind of influencer or media darling. We can all have a good time, enjoy the parks, and get some good shots of we keep things grounded, be professional, don't do stupid crap, and embarrass ourselves in the process. Here's hoping more budding 'influencers' and vloggers will take your advice to heart!

  11. I´ve worked in 2021 for 4,5 month in germany in an amusement park. And we hated these guest too that try to tell us how we have to do everything "safely" . Loved the parents who put their kids in the seat and squeeze them in. After the ride some of them were crying because it went to tight while the ride. I also loved guest who say: Your job is easy, you just have to press a button 😀 They don´t know all the aspects to operate a rollercoaster safe or even start the ride in the morning.

  12. There are a lot of tik tokers who litterly go live almost everyday at Disney and universal. It's cool but when they are always talking, it's annoying. The last clip I saw on a live tik tok, the manahorn broke down. The employees had to take the people backstage so all the guy did was cover up his phone so nobody could see backstage.

  13. Any tips on getting through the off season when the park you work at is seasonal? I miss it so much and it's making me depressed it doesn't help that they promoted me at the end of the season for this upcoming season so I'm even more anxious to start.

  14. It annoys the heck out of me when they make themselves the center of attention. Don't ruin other peoples experiences just so you can get content. It's just lame and not cool. Thank you for sharing the best practices as well, especially dimming the screen it makes such a world of difference!
