  1. I felt the exact same way about the Ricky Gervais thing. A very obvious marketing tactic to me and not worth the energy. I like his shows usually but this was clearly just him trying to get the attention that Chapelle had. It's transparent af.

  2. Dude those shoes are like post apocalyptic grunge punk.
If they're actually pretty tough, tie up completely and don't have holes for dirt and such to get in….
Then I'd actually wear them with some uber punked out tank girl outfits. Cus thats what punk is. A massive f you to the status quo.
It'd be extra hilarious to dress punk in designer … oh wait thats already happening. 😅 the world is on it's head f it. I just dgaf either way. I still wear clothing i bought 10 years ago. I wouldn't spend on them but I'd wear them. And rich ppl should satisfy their whims but probably support good stuff and use their priviledge more… for humanitarian and environmental efforts.. siigh
This is why we can't have nice things!

  3. ricky gervais explains how jokes are constructed and that people are offended because of the wrong part of the joke. and not making jokes about some group or part of society isn't that excluding them out of the society?

  4. Someone at Balenciaga watched Zoolander and genuinely thought Derelicte was a good idea.

Regarding the music story, Kpop does viral really well. They always have something called a "point dance" which is a certain section (usually in the chorus) that is easy to dance for even beginners. It's usually repeated in every chorus as well. Basically, TikTok is the perfect platform for Kpop due to Kpop's standard of having catchy songs and dances.

It's interesting to see the music industry in the West starting to pull this move when its business is completely different. Korean companies do this because they can and their groups are under (usually ethically questionable) contracts. Artists usually don't have the power to reject anything because their contracts are that restrictive. This is something that wouldn't fly in the States. All this is to say that the music industry in the West should not actively try to be "TikTok Viral". It's a slippery slope and could end up damaging more things than they realize…

  5. I hope that one day people will realize that being an "equal-opportunity offender" isn't equality in a society that isn't equal. I was going to watch Ricky Gervais' special, but now I will not. Phil's right that he knew exactly what he was doing–he's not an idiot. He's only giving tacit permission to continue to other trans folk and treat trans women in particular as lesser women. Fuck that, no more Ricky Gervais for me. Something's gotta give.

  6. This guy is either overly opinionated or has no opinion at all (if it’s not the popular opinion and he feels he might get backlash)

  7. I've always loved Ricky Gervais, I've watched all his specials and like alot of his philosophy – he's been one of my favourite comedians for a long time.

    But..

This recent special just felt lazy and repetitive and contradictory to the values he's spouted all these years – How can you still say your jokes aren't aimed at the subject itself and that it's all about intention then talk about how ridiculous pronouns and the language/validitiy of trans people are. It was just disappointing.

  8. im extremely liberal and LGBT, and I thought Ricky Girvais's special was hilarious. it sounds terrible when you quote it like that, but the way he tells it, he's actually making fun of people who say horrible things and mean it. he's right, he pokes fun at EVERYONE, so why is LGBT off the table? He even explains in the special that he will take any position to make a joke work, and that his jokes are told ironically. The audience laughs because they know it's wrong. Gervais has been purposely pissing people off since the beginning of his career, thats literally his personality. It's not something he adopted just for this special, or to get cancelled on purpose, this is what he has always done. If you go watch the entire thing, it will make a lot more sense. it doesn't feel fair to critique someone's art without watching it.

  9. Fame use to be a Bi-product of being good at something.. Now people want to be famous but talentless pieces of shit. Now a song doesnt even have to be Good, it just has to trend? fuck that shit. thats why i dont have a tiktok or twitter. nonsense plague on society.

  10. I saw Ricky jervays on my suggested in nextflox, laughed and thumbs down. I also haven’t engaged with anything related but semi-accidentally in this video. Let’s not do this together 😁

  11. Another reason why I’m totally ok with tiktok going away lol. Toxic community, the top creators come from extremely affluent backgrounds so don’t even need it and the fact that all the code has been revealed that it’s straight up China spyware? Or maybe all the nasty fucked up cruel trends? But it just goes to show how easily media controls you and no one can objectively be against something so mainstream that is so clearly bad for us. Plus it’s a babysitter for most-_-
