We’ve got our hands on some of the latest and greatest electric cars, and we’re setting off on another EV range test to see just how far they will they travel on a single charge!

For this test, we’ve got our hands with the all-new Porsche Taycan Performance Battery Plus, the Tesla Model 3 Long Range, the BMW i5 eDrive 40, the BYD Seal Design, the Polestar 2 Long Range, and the Mercedes EQE 300. The question is, how far will they travel compared to their claimed range?

Let’s take a closer look at the stats. The Taycan comes with a 97kWh battery and is apparently good for a range of 421 miles. Next up we have the Polestar 2 Long Range, equipped with a 79kWh battery that can reach 406 miles. Following that comes the Model 3, which has a 75kWh battery and the ability to go 390 miles.

Next up is the Mercedes, which is packing an 89kWh battery and has the ability to reach 380 miles. The penultimate car is the BMW i5, with an 81kWh battery that will send it up to 362 miles. And finally, it’s the BYD, which rolls up with an 82.5kWh battery with a claimed range of 354 miles.

So which do you think will go the furthest? Will it be an easy win for the Porsche? There’s only one way to find out… Let’s kick off this EV range test!

  2. I would love to see a video of several new ICE cars tested to see how they match their claimed range and just what happens to each when they fully run out of fuel. Has CARWOW ever done something like that?

  3. "The Polestar is supposed to be a built from the ground up electric car, so why does it have a transmission tunnel" – er, well it is actually built on the Volvo XC40 chassis, and the XC40 comes (came?) in petrol and hybrid variants as well, hence the transmission tunnel 😉

  4. This 5 series BMW must be the worst ever. They've made it on a multi purpose platform to cut costs yet it's insanely expensive, although it's one of the newest cars here it has the shortest range and the worst efficiency and on top of all that it even looks boring.

  5. Did it occurred to you that you have blind listeners? When you say this and that and don’t show the amount or save the amount, it’s not very helpful to a blind person or to someone who’s listening to the phone in their pocket. Think about it.
