I don't like Lost Ark

Over the last couple days I’ve spent some time playing the new MMO Lost Ark and watching A TON of streams and gameplay videos, and honestly… I didn’t really enjoy myself. I’ve tried to articulate some off the issues I have with Lost Ark in this video – let me know if you agree or disagree! Enjoy.

  1. This probably goes without saying, but these are just my personal opinions. If you value different things in a video game or enjoy spending your time differently than I do, enjoy Lost Ark! 😎👍

  2. i sunk a ton of hours into the game, had my fun with it up until the point where honing your gear failed and that time grinding for the mats was wasted. don't feel like spending money to hone my gear. not for me personally

  3. I also feel the game is very linear. I wouldn't mind it so much if the game was challenging, but everything dies easy and the only challenge I've had in dungeons is due to members of group going afk.

  4. This is the most boring experience i had in gaming. I jumped in bc of the hype and very quickly returned to dying light 2. Now i dont undertand the hype or how or why people loves this crap so much. Overrated as all hell, but meh, cool for those who liked this.

  5. you could tell immediately what kind of pos game this was gonna be just with 10 minutes of playing. you can see all the inflated mechanics they use for extending the life of the game with needless grinding. how unsatisfying the gameplay is pressing the same rotation and worse the need to have a forced MSQ on rails and a "world" that is just instanced zones like in maplestory.

these used to be techniques used by clever game designers back when they had to fit a game inside a 800mb CD. but seeing tiny instanced zones in a modern online game like this that calls itself an MMO? that's just lazy shit design painted to look pretty.

    lipstick on a pig.

  6. Most the people I've came across that say the leveling is boring all skipped cut scenes, and never immersed themselves inside of the story. It's always a rush to the highest ilvl for some reason and I don't get it. What's the point in playing a game if you ignore 90% of the game.
If you are disconnected from the story you will get bored. If you are just wanting to get to max level you will get bored.
The game offers ways to make the leveling experience more fun and you toss it out the window and then complain that it's boring. Help me understand please.

  7. im honestly just playing this while waiting for the Elden Ring release. there is nothing special about this game at all. it's just a tedious grind showering you with bs rewards constantly. feels like a mobile game in many ways

  8. I just hit 50
was hit with more linear progression walls that require little skill other then a "worker" mindset to complete.
It feels like a mobile game, with stolen stories from western world games (LOTR/Diablo2/Warhammer40k) was obvious.
Leveling is and garbage, what is the point other than getting to another wall.

All the streamers playing it, look like zombies acting like zombies, saying weird zombie "sellout" "look how much fun I am having", can't tell if this is mental illness at it's max or people got paid a good amount of money to pretend they are enjoying a boring experience.

The amount of games I played.
    Daoc
    Lineage
    ultima online
    lineage 2
    Wow
    AOC
    ETC (keeps going)

This has been one of the worst experiences I ever took part in, (well maybe neverwinter was worst) but this looked so nice.

Most of the classes are exactly the same except for the skills animation they have.

  9. – Leveling Process: Considering the leveling process is only about 10% of the game experience it is very strange to me that you would spend so much time complaining about that. Expecialy if you are going to compare it to a game that has a much longer leveling experience that makes up a much larger part of the game (Final Fantasy), that is also a full price non free to play game and is also pay 2 win to add insult to injury. Also considering that you can literally get six characters to the end game for the work of two I really have no clue why you even spent any time talking about the leveling process.
    – Exploration based?: If you are interested in a newer MMO that is exploration based, I would play GW2, not really sure why you made up the fact that newer MMOs are not exploration based and then gave a few examples of non exploration based MMOs like WOW, when GW2 and Black Desert exist right now. Compared to GW2 and BD WoW and a lot of older MMOs aren't even close to being exploration based.
    – Pay 2 Win?: Lost ark is pay to progress, you said it yourself, you can do everything in the game without paying but you can speed it up with money. So If you are interested in an MMO that is not pay 2 win by your definition, let me cross a few off your list that you also praised in the video. Final Fantasy is pay 2 win, WOW is pay 2 win, GW2 is pay 2 win, BD is Pay 2 win, DFO is pay 2 win, EVE is pay 2 win, Star Wars OR is pay 2 win. The irony about this video and this complaint in particular is that you praise games like FF and WOW and then complain about a free game being pay 2 win, when not only are WOW and FF pay 2 win in the exact same way if not worse, but they also charge you full price and monthly subscriptions to boot. XD might want to stop playing MMOs sounds like you never really liked them in the first place.

  10. I like the analogy with the clown wagon… I realized this a little bit late (250h+ already in).
Lost a lot of progress to rng/failed honing and will def. not spend a single dime on this system.

That's too bad I guess, the combat was kinda fun at times.
I guess I only open it up to blast some chaos dungeons from time to time, just for fun – but my progress will be none existent and I don't care.
I kinda feel bad for people with a gearscore around 500 – they don't even fkn know what's coming to them.

Now if i used money to get a failsave, I prob would sit around gs 1300 with at least 1 toon.
Even so, I have 0 desire. FK THIS SHIT.

  11. that thing of your character being the holy hero/main-protagonist of the story, is a huge let down for me… it is so silly for a mmo.
also those overthetop acrobatic animations for every class is just so cheap.

  12. most of people dont swipe cards that much even in KR server. cause the amount you have to swipe to be jsut ahead of one week. is way too much. people would just make more alts and do dailes once in 3days with resting points.

  13. Ngl sounds like MMORPGs aren't you're thing. Fair critique but (as you said) this is just what they are. If you don't like to grind then don't play this genre. At least when it comes to levelling, no MMORPG has a 'good' experience. Some are more tolerable than others. I'd personally rank Lost Ark as second underneath FFXIV because at least it recognises that levelling and story won't be its strong points, so it focuses on making the quests easy and fast to do, whilst not being too boring because the combat is just tons better than most other games.
