I Didn't Want to Quit.

Thank you to the incredible Montane Arctic Lapland Ultra (https://lapland.arcticultra.de/) for having Vilk and I join your 185km distance. I can’t wait to come back for a redemption run.

Thank you to Callum Jolliffe for the drone shots and the footage from the checkpoints, and David Dougan for additional videography. And a big thanks to Racelite, co-sponsors of the race who specialize in all things trail running and Arctic running: https://www.racelite.de/

Here is the Q&A video if you’d like to learn more about my and Vilk’s training, prep and gear: https://www.patreon.com/posts/q-lapland-arctic-100792949 (it’s free and you don’t have to sign up to anything, just click on the link)

  1. It's not quitting, it's modifying. It's more than the 100k, you drove all the way out there, and trained. It's the entire journey and you should be SO PROUD of yourself and your amazing pooch. ❀❀❀️

  2. What an incredible journey you two went on. To see you at the start with the only dog (that i could see) was emotional. I too have a shepherd and another dog and as difficult as it is to bring them along on adventures, they always bring so much more joy. Granted there are times for adventures without them too, but to know that you are giving and showing vilk the world is such a reward

  3. You are the best pup owner ever. I am sobbing with disappointment, for you. But, you now know what it is about, and experienced all kinds of snow and weather, and that is awesome. You had that wonderful experience, with your cutue-pie. This was so interesting to watch. I think most winter foot wear is only for dry and or deep snows, a lot of them soak through in wet snow or slush, just in everyday life.

  4. You, my sweetest heart are my hero. I am amazed not only by your diligence and strength and inexhaustible endurance but also by your significant sacrifice. The choice to change your dreams, on the spot for the fealty of a dog…your "best friend", to me is the highest form of love unconditionally. You will return and you will complete this test and in my heart and mind, you did all that this year, too. 🩡🐾

  5. I feel sorry you had to stop rase, but you have made good decision. You are not selfish, you thought of your best friend Vilk. Vilk cheated πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. Just a joke

  6. E- I visit your channel now and again. Frequently now because of the pup. πŸ™‚ I hiked a 14er with my rescue (45 lbs) 5 years ago. It was not our first 14er so we were both experienced. More than half way through my wonderful pup started struggling. I decided to bail without second thoughts. Made a makeshift dog carrier out of bivy sack and made it back to our base camp. I recently rescued an 85-lbs pup. He’s 18 months. Strong, lots of energy! I know for sure I can’t carry him on my back πŸ™‚ All my solo adventure and planning revolves around my big dood. Keep living and loving! Lots of hugs and treats to your big brave awesome V! πŸ’™

  7. Eva you are an amazing person and I really enjoy your exploits, you of course did the right thing in caring for Vilk. I am curious and not critical but would Vilk have ridden on your sled as an option? It may have been too much of a load to pull, I just wondered if he would have allowed that.

  8. What a good boy Vilk is. Even when he was tired and his paw hurt, he was still enthusiastic, greeting the people and trying to help. You made the right choice to prioritize his wellbeing.
